Safety Inspector Division: HSSE Location: Bahrain Role Summary The Safety Inspector is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment across construction projects by ensuring compliance with company HSSE policies, client requirements, and applicable local regulations.
The role involves conducting site inspections, monitoring work activities, identifying hazards, supporting incident prevention initiatives, and fostering a strong safety culture to protect employees, subcontractors, visitors, and project assets.
Key Responsibilities Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with company HSSE policies, project requirements, and applicable legal regulations.
Monitor construction activities to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions.
Carry out daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns to promote safe working practices.
Verify that work permits, risk assessments (RA), job safety analyses (JSA), and method statements are in place before high-risk activities commence.
Inspect scaffolding, lifting operations, excavation works, confined spaces, work at height, electrical works, and other high-risk activities for compliance with safety standards.
Ensure that all personnel use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with site safety requirements.
Report safety observations, near misses, incidents, and non-conformities, and assist in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Monitor emergency preparedness, including fire prevention measures, emergency equipment, evacuation procedures, and emergency drills.
Maintain accurate HSSE records, inspection reports, safety statistics, and documentation.
Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve safety issues and improve overall site performance.
Support the implementation of company health, safety, security, and environmental initiatives across all project activities.
Promote environmental protection by monitoring waste management, pollution prevention, housekeeping, and compliance with environmental procedures.
Participate in internal and external HSSE audits and assist in closing audit findings.
Encourage proactive reporting of hazards and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's HSSE management system.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Inspector or Safety Officer within the construction industry.
Experience in civil, building, infrastructure, industrial, or marine construction projects is preferred.
Professional certification such as NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is mandatory; IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
Good knowledge of local occupational health and safety regulations and international HSSE standards.
Familiarity with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is an advantage.
Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response procedures.
Experience in conducting safety inspections, audits, and preparing HSSE reports.
Excellent observation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors at all organizational levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital HSSE reporting systems.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple site activities.
Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are an added advantage.
Willingness to work on construction sites and travel between project locations as required.
