About the Role

As an Associate Editor, you will play a key role in supporting Journal Editors and Editorial Board Members (EBMs) to ensure rapid and high-quality peer review,and publication. You will support content delivery by managing peer review for specific manuscriptsacross our journalsand making editorial decisions. Success in this role requires strong time management skills, broad scientific knowledge, and a commitment to excellence in editorial practices. Key performance indicators include fast turnaround times, rigorous peer review standards, and exceptional service to authors, reviewers, and EBMs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about science and looking to launch a career in academic publishing. The position is full-time and based out of our Pune office, with a hybrid working arrangement. 

Responsibilities

• Assess manuscripts for compliance with journal policies andeditorialthresholds,demonstratingscientific comprehension, critical scientific evaluation, and manuscript assessment skills todeterminesuitability for peer review.

  
  

• Identifyand inviteappropriate peerreviewers and manage the peer review processin a timely manner.

  
  

• Make well-reasoned editorial decisions onsubmittedmanuscripts, applying sound judgement,in light ofexpert reviewer advice.

  
  

• Provide manuscript consultation and editorial support asrequiredto Assistant Editors, Journal Owners and Editorial Board Members,demonstratingcollaboration, interpersonal awareness, and effective communication.

  
  

• Identifymanuscripts where there are difficulties in reaching an editorial decision and provide a resolution.

  
  

• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support journal development, publishing workflows, operational improvements, andad hocprojects.

  
  

Experience,Skills andQualifications

• PhD(or equivalent)research experience inEngineering.

  
  

• Strong scientific comprehension and critical evaluation skills, with the ability to assess research across a broad range of topics beyond one’s core area of expertise.

  
  

• Ability to work effectively within a cross-journal team,demonstratingcollaboration,effectivecommunication,interpersonal awareness, and a willingness to support sharedobjectives.

  
  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate editorial decisions clearly and professionally.

  
  

• Attention to detail and commitment tomaintaininghigh editorial, ethical, and quality standards.

  
  

• A genuine passion for scientific communication, academic writing, and promoting rigor and transparency in the reporting of research.

  
  

• Thoroughunderstanding of the scientific research community, the peer review process, and the needs of researchers, reviewers, and editors.

  
  

• Sound judgement and strong decision-making skills, with the ability toanalyzeinformation critically and reach balanced, evidence-based conclusions.

  
  

• Highly self-motivated, resourceful, resilient, and achievement-oriented, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
