About Company:
Client is an internationally recognized supplier of specialist motors and pumps, developed for a number of market applications for power generation, oil and gas, nuclear energy, defense, chemical processing and renewable industries. To support their activities in these markets they provide a comprehensive range of service and repair options through an integrated network of engineers all over the world.
An Ideal Candidate:
Client India is establishing a new manufacturing and service centre focused on pumps, motors, and rotating equipment. This is a greenfield opportunity for a seasoned operations leader to build and run the facility from the ground up — from infrastructure commissioning and team recruitment through to achieving planned revenue targets.
The Plant Head will be the most senior operational leader on site, accountable for the end-to-end performance of the facility: manufacturing output, service and repair operations, testing capabilities, quality, safety, and financial performance.
Key Competencies:
Key Responsibilities
1. Facility Setup & Commissioning
- Lead the commissioning of the new facility in coordination with the Lessor and project teams, ensuring timely readiness for operations.
- Plan and oversee fitout, equipment installation, and testing infrastructure build-out within the approved Capex budget.
- Establish all facility operating procedures, safety systems, and quality management frameworks from scratch.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities for registrations, fire NOC, and all required licences and compliance clearances.
2. Manufacturing & Service Operations
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing, assembly, and service/repair operations for pumps, motors, and associated rotating equipment.
- Build and manage a capable workshop with end-to-end capabilities: strip and inspect, repair, rewind, overhaul, and test.
- Ensure on-time delivery, service quality, and customer satisfaction across all accounts.
- Drive operational efficiency, waste reduction, and continuous improvement across the shop floor.
3. Testing Facility
- Design, commission, and operate a testing facility for pumps and motors compliant with relevant Indian and international standards (e.g. IS, ISO, API, IEC, IBR).
- Establish test protocols, calibration regimes, and documentation standards for all equipment under test.
- Position the testing facility as a revenue-generating service for third-party clients over time.
4. Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, and develop the facility team.
- Define roles, set performance expectations, and build a culture of accountability, safety, and technical excellence.
- Mentor and develop second-line managers to build organisational depth.
5. Commercial & Financial Performance
- Own the facility P&L; manage costs against the annual Opex budget and track performance against the five-year financial plan.
- Work closely with the sales team to support proposals, customer visits, and technical solutioning.
- Drive revenue ramp-up to planned targets.
- Report on KPIs including revenue, EBITDA, order book, throughput, quality, and safety to the Country Head and Group.
6. Procurement & Supply Chain
- Establish vendor relationships for materials, spares, consumables, and sub-contracted services.
- Oversee procurement of capital equipment and tooling in line with the approved Capex plan.
- Build a reliable local and regional supply chain to support operational requirements.
