Your future team: Search Platform
The Search Platform team is responsible for powering all of Rovo Search as well as search across all Atlassian products. Our mission is to make all our customers' data across Atlassian and third-party applications searchable securely and reliably through an insanely fast, globally scalable, enterprise grade search infrastructure.
In addition to unlocking enterprise knowledge through natural language search, much of Rovo AI also relies on search as a core capability for secure, flexible and quick access to relevant information which is instantly kept up-to-date. As the world of AI continues to move incredibly fast, so do we with our âShipItâ philosophy.

In this role, you'll get the chance to:

• Handle complex problems in the team from technical design to launch

  
  
  

• Determine plans-of-attack on large projects

  
  
  

• Solve complex architecture challenges and apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects

  
  
  

• Lead code reviews & documentation and take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems

  
  
  

• Set the standard for meaningful code reviews

  
  
  

• Partner across engineering teams to take on company-wide programmes in multiple projects

  
  
  

• Transfer your depth of knowledge from your current language to excel as a Software Engineer

  
  
  

• Mentor junior members of the team.

Your background:

• 10+ years experience in multiple hands-on software/technology leadership roles, with end-to-end responsibility through the software development lifecycle

  
  
  

• Bachelor's degree with a preference for Computer Science degree

  
  
  

• Experience with Lucene, Solr, or other Search technologies.

  
  
  

• Deep understanding of Kafka and Kubernetes internals

  
  
  

• Worked on improving efficiency of large distributed stream processing pipelines.

  
  
  

• Expertise with Java and Java based stream processing platforms.

  
  
  

• Ability to identify and fix data processing inefficiencies using application performance monitoring tools of Java.

  
  
  

• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings of AWS.

  
  
  

• Experience in Java, Spring, REST, and NoSQL databases

  
  
  

• Experience building event-driven pipelines based on SQS, SNS, Kafka. Knowledge of stream processing platforms like Flink and workflow engines like temporal etc.

  
  
  

• Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space and time

  
  
  

• Practice in mentoring other engineers and influencing decision makers throughout the organisation

  
  
  

• Consider the customer impact when making technical decisions

  
  
  

If you've got these skills, even better

• Experience in ElasticSearch, OpenSearch or other search engine technologies

  
  
  

• Experience in Developer Experience or Developer Productivity

  
  
  

• Experience with Python
