We are looking for a professional with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Fire Alarm Systems (FAS). The candidate must have an Associate Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering. This role will be based in India, providing pre-sales engineering support to regional teams, with close collaboration with local country experts (e.g., Singapore team) for site-specific, regulatory, and commercial inputs. The role of a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer involves the following responsibilities: Conducting both preliminary and detailed pre-sales engineering to assess project suitability, understand requirements, and quantify scope for BMS and Fire Alarm tenders, including service, retrofit (A&A), and system migration projects Reviewing tender documents, site information, and available as-built drawings to identify system requirements, HVAC equipment, fire alarm systems, field devices, and interface points Reviewing sequence of operations and fire cause & effect, identifying gaps in specifications related to I/O summary and system requirements Preparing key deliverables such as RFIs, equipment summaries, data point schedules, loop/device schedules, and bills of material, including: Selection and sizing of BMS devices (sensors, valves, actuators, controllers) Selection and configuration of fire alarm systems (detectors, modules, panels – e.g., Sinteso EN) Definition of system interfaces and licenses Developing BMS and Fire system architecture, including integration with existing and third-party systems Producing technical compliance statements aligned with project specifications Working closely with local country experts to: Validate local fire code and regulatory compliance Incorporate actual site conditions and operational constraints Define scope boundaries and interfaces with other systems Supporting cost development by: Structuring and defining scope packages for subcontractors and suppliers Working with local teams, who will engage subcontractors and obtain budgetary quotations for relevant portions of the works Consolidating technical scope and cost inputs into the overall solution Recognising that supplier and subcontractor coordination, including quotation requests and commercial engagement, will be led by local country teams Identifying and mitigating technical and operational risks (e.g., legacy systems, live environment constraints), while capturing opportunities during tendering Preparing accurate project cost estimates, considering site constraints, phasing, and migration strategy Performing thorough quality checks on all deliverables prior to submission The candidate should possess the following skills and knowledge: Strong knowledge of BMS, HVAC (ACMV), Electrical systems, and Fire Alarm Systems Understanding of fire system design principles, including cause & effect, zoning, and fail-safe operation Ability to work in a regional support model, collaborating effectively with local teams responsible for site validation, authority compliance, and supplier coordination Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills Understanding of basic instrumentation and control loops Ability to interpret single line diagrams, fire schematics, and floor plans (including incomplete as-built drawings) Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, M-Bus, KNX, and system integration interfaces Proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD/Groundplan tools Knowledge of Revit and BIM will be an added advantage Additional knowledge in IT networking, cybersecurity, and industry compliance practices is advantageous Experience in service/retrofit environments or regional/global project support will be an added advantage This role is based in Chennai, where you’ll get the chance to work with teams impacting entire cities, countries – and the shape of things to come.
