Job Description

Quality Engineering Manager – Band 4D (Senior Manager)

Experience

• 12–15 years of software quality engineering experience across web, API, platform, and enterprise applications
• Proven track record of leading quality engineering for large-scale product engineering programs and multiple concurrent releases
• Experience managing teams of Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, and QE Leads across multiple projects or product areas
• Strong experience driving quality transformation initiatives, automation strategy, and engineering excellence programs
• Demonstrated ability to influence engineering, product, and business stakeholders on quality outcomes
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern product engineering operating models

Automation & Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or equivalent
• Strong experience in API automation using Postman, Rest Assured, Karate, or similar tools
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience designing scalable automation architectures and reusable test frameworks
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated testing into release processes
• Experience with cloud-native testing environments and modern engineering toolchains
• Familiarity with performance, security, and reliability testing practices
• Good understanding of AI-assisted software development and quality engineering tools

Quality Strategy & Ownership

• Define and drive quality strategy across multiple products, platforms, or engineering teams
• Establish quality goals, KPIs, and governance mechanisms aligned with business objectives
• Drive automation-first testing approaches to improve engineering productivity and release velocity
• Ensure quality gates, release readiness reviews, and risk assessments are consistently executed
• Own key quality metrics including defect leakage, automation coverage, release stability, and customer-reported issues
• Lead root cause analysis of critical production incidents and implement systemic improvements
• Champion shift-left and continuous testing practices across the engineering organization

Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead and mentor QE Managers, QE Leads, and Quality Engineers across multiple teams
• Drive hiring strategy, workforce planning, onboarding, and capability development for the QE organization
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Create learning pathways for automation, AI-enabled testing, and modern quality practices
• Support succession planning and development of future quality leaders

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with Engineering Directors, Product Leaders, Architects, and Program Managers to drive quality outcomes
• Influence product roadmaps and engineering decisions through quality insights and risk assessments
• Present quality health, release readiness, and risk updates to senior leadership
• Drive alignment across geographically distributed teams and stakeholders
• Act as the quality leader for strategic programs and critical business initiatives

AI & Modern QE Practices

• Drive adoption of AI-powered testing, intelligent automation, and quality engineering innovations
• Evaluate and implement AI tools for test generation, defect prediction, test optimization, and productivity improvement
• Promote testing practices for AI-enabled applications, copilots, LLM-based products, and agentic systems
• Establish best practices for validating AI systems including accuracy, reliability, guardrails, and risk controls
• Lead transformation initiatives that modernize the organization's quality engineering function
