Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility



  • Prepares resources, tools, and equipment for Design & Technology lessons, including hard materials (woods, metals, plastics), art processes, and electronic components.
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains workshop machinery (e.g., saws, drills, sanders) and new technologies (e.g., laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC machines).
  • Conducts regular checks and routine maintenance of all DT equipment and machinery, reporting any faults or safety concerns to the Head of Department.
  • Orders, inventories, and manages stock levels of materials, tools, and consumables, ensuring supplies are available for planned lessons and projects.
  • Assists teaching staff during practical sessions as required, providing technical support to students and helping to demonstrate safe and correct use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean, organised, and hazard-free workshop environment, including the safe storage of tools, sharp objects, and hazardous materials.
  • Supports the preparation of displays, models, and exemplar work to aid teaching and learning.
  • Provides basic IT support for DT-specific software (e.g., CAD/CAM programs, 3D printing slicers) and assists students and staff with file preparation for laser cutting and 3D printing.
  • Keeps accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance logs, and safety inspections.

Position Requirements



Education:



  • High school diploma or equivelant.
  • Minimum 3 years of similar experience.
  • Understanding modern DT, including product design, digital tools, materials, and design processes.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • A reflective, collaborative, and innovative educator committed to continuous improvement.

Language: English is mandatory
