Job Summary

The Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for delivering technical expertise in electrical systems, UPS solutions, and lighting control systems to support the sales team. The role includes understanding client requirements, designing integrated solutions, preparing proposals, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Sales Support & Client Engagement

• Collaborate with the sales team to analyze client needs, RFQs, and tender documents.
• Conduct site visits and client meetings to gather technical requirements.
• Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations related to:
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • UPS solutions
  • Lighting control & automation systems

2. Solution Design & Engineering

• Design complete solutions including:
  • UPS systems (centralized, modular, redundant configurations)
  • Battery systems (VRLA, Lithium-ion)
  • Electrical distribution (LV panels, MDB, SMDB, DBs)
  • Lighting control systems (LUTRON, DALI, KNX, DMX, smart lighting automation)
• Perform:
  • Load calculations and sizing of UPS and electrical systems
  • Lighting load design and control zoning
• Prepare:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • Control schematics for lighting systems
  • System architecture diagrams

3. Proposal & Documentation

• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including BOQ and costing.
• Develop:
  • Compliance statements against specifications
  • Technical submittals and datasheets
• Review tender specifications and ensure alignment with:
  • IEC / IEEE / NEC standards
  • Local regulations (Qatar Construction Specifications, Kahramaa Regulations)

4. Lighting Control System Expertise

• Provide design and configuration concepts for:
  • Lutron Lighting Control System
  • DALI lighting systems
  • KNX smart automation
  • Centralized and decentralized lighting controls
• Integrate lighting systems with:
  • BMS (Building Management System)
  • Energy-saving automation strategies
• Recommend energy-efficient and smart lighting solutions.

5. Vendor Coordination & Product Selection

• Liaise with manufacturers for:
  • Technical clarifications
  • Competitive pricing
  • Solution approvals
• Evaluate and select suitable brands/products based on project requirements.

6. Costing & Estimation

• Prepare accurate costing, value engineering options, and pricing strategies.
• Optimize solutions considering cost, performance, and energy efficiency.

7. Project Handover & Execution Support

• Provide design clarifications to project and execution teams.
• Support installation, testing, and commissioning teams as required.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Electrical power distribution systems
  • UPS (Online, Modular, Parallel redundancy systems)
  • Battery technologies (VRLA, Li-ion)
