Profile Summary The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial and operational activities of the Production and Transport Departments by maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, processing invoices, and ensuring the integrity of operational data.
The role works closely with internal departments to support reporting, job costing, external sales, plant and vehicle hire accounting, and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities Compile and submit Production and Transport performance reports.
Maintain and update job costing reports accurately and on schedule.
Verify the accuracy of weighbridge system transactions and report discrepancies.
Prepare monthly Purchase and Sales Reports to support stock verification.
Generate and process monthly internal and external invoices.
Maintain accurate records of external sales, plant hire, and vehicle hire transactions.
Calculate monthly performance bonuses for drivers and equipment operators.
Coordinate with the Compliance Assistant to ensure proper documentation and record retention.
Liaise with the ERP System Clerk to ensure accurate accounting of plant and vehicle hire transactions.
Provide administrative and accounting support to operational staff and weighbridge assistants.
Assist in preparing management reports and financial information as required.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Transport & Production Operations Manager.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills.
Good understanding of accounting principles and financial record-keeping.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience working with ERP systems is an advantage.
Minimum of one year of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role.
Experience in operational accounting, job costing, invoicing, or financial reporting is preferred.
Experience in the construction, transport, manufacturing, or plant operations sector is an advantage.
