Senior Estimator (Civil) Location: Bahrain Division & Department: Precontract & Technical Services Role Summary The Senior Estimator (Civil) is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for civil, infrastructure, marine, and building projects.
The role involves analyzing tender documents, performing first-principles estimating, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, supervising quantity take-offs, assessing project risks, and ensuring timely submission of comprehensive and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities Review tender documents to understand project scope, technical requirements, commercial obligations, and associated risks.
Prepare and submit technical and commercial queries to consultants/clients for tender clarification.
Supervise and verify quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and rate analyses using first-principles estimating methods.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for inclusion in tender pricing.
Apply strong knowledge of manpower, equipment, and productivity norms in civil construction.
Identify value engineering opportunities to improve competitiveness and profitability.
Evaluate alternative construction methodologies and assess cost implications.
Develop cost-optimization strategies to enhance tender success rate.
Conduct risk assessments and incorporate appropriate contingencies in estimates.
Coordinate with internal teams including planning, technical, operations, and estimation departments.
Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
8–12 years of experience in civil, infrastructure, building, industrial, or marine estimating roles.
Proven experience in GCC or Middle East construction projects preferred.
Strong expertise in first-principles estimating and cost analysis.
Experience in reviewing and verifying quantity take-offs.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, productivity rates, and resource planning.
Ability to prepare detailed BOQs, rate build-ups, and cost breakdowns.
Strong analytical, commercial, and numerical skills.
Excellent understanding of risk analysis and contingency planning.
Strong negotiation and supplier/subcontractor evaluation skills.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines.
Strong organizational and leadership capabilities within estimation teams.
