Job Description:
As a Data Engineer specializing in geospatial and demographic data at Gbbis, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into valuable insights. Your primary responsibilities will involve data acquisition, cleansing, transformation, and integration, with a focus on geospatial and demographic data sources. While experience with Alteryx Designer is preferred, we welcome candidates with similar tools and technologies expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Acquisition: Identify and source geospatial and demographic datasets from various internal and external sources, ensuring data quality and compliance.
2. Data Cleansing: Cleanse and preprocess data to remove errors, inconsistencies, and duplicates, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
3. Data Transformation: Develop and implement data transformation pipelines to convert raw data into structured formats suitable for analysis and reporting.
4. Geospatial Integration: Work with geospatial data formats, such as shapefiles, GPS coordinates, and map data, to integrate them into our datasets.
5. Demographic Data Integration: Incorporate demographic data, such as population statistics, age, gender, and income data, into our analytical frameworks.
6. Database Management: Manage data storage and retrieval systems, including databases, data warehouses, or data lakes.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
8. Documentation: Maintain clear and organized documentation of data pipelines, processes, and data sources.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in data engineering with a strong emphasis on geospatial and demographic data.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and transformation using tools like Alteryx Designer (preferred) or similar ETL tools.
• Familiarity with geospatial data formats and tools, such as GIS software, shapefiles, or GPS data.
• Experience working with demographic data sources and integrating them into analytical workflows.
• Strong SQL skills for data querying and manipulation.
• Knowledge of data storage solutions like databases (SQL, NoSQL), data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
