About: We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join the team and contribute to the development of safe, reliable, and compliant high-voltage battery and vehicle energy systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for applying ISO 26262 Functional Safety principles throughout the system development lifecycle, ensuring that safety requirements are properly defined, analyzed, and implemented at the system level.
Responsibilities: Functional Safety Engineering Perform Functional Safety activities throughout the system development lifecycle in accordance with ISO 26262 .
Develop and maintain Functional Safety work products, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Functional Safety Concept (FSC), and Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
Support the definition, allocation, and traceability of functional safety requirements.
Ensure compliance with functional safety standards during system development and validation.
Safety Analysis Perform safety analyses including: Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA) Identify potential system hazards and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Evaluate safety mechanisms and diagnostic coverage within system architectures.
Support safety case development and functional safety assessments.
Systems Engineering Collaborate with systems, hardware, and integration teams to ensure safety requirements are incorporated into system design.
Analyze high-voltage battery systems and vehicle energy architectures from a functional safety perspective.
Participate in system architecture reviews and design discussions.
Ensure consistency between safety goals, technical requirements, and system implementation.
Documentation & Compliance Prepare and review functional safety documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Support internal and external functional safety audits and assessments.
Maintain traceability between safety requirements and verification activities.
Ensure engineering documentation complies with automotive quality standards.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout product development.
Support continuous improvement of functional safety processes and methodologies.
Stay current with updates to ISO 26262 and automotive functional safety best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in Functional Safety within the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety principles and processes.
Experience developing Functional Safety work products including HARA, FSC, and TSC .
Hands-on experience performing FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, and DFA .
Experience working with high-voltage battery systems , battery management systems (BMS), or vehicle energy systems.
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and system-level architecture.
Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
Familiarity with automotive development processes and safety-critical systems is preferred.
Functional Safety certification (ISO 26262) is considered an advantage.
