About the role:


The Merchandise Planner is responsible for determining the optimal product assortment, quantities, and pricing to maximize sales, maintain healthy stock levels, and achieve target profitability. The role analyzes sales, inventory, costs, and market trends to decide which products and designs should be launched, reordered, reduced, or discontinued, how much to buy, what the initial selling price should be, how stock should be allocated across
stores and e-commerce, and when markdowns or clearance actions should be initiated. The Merchandise Planner works at the SKU level and is accountable for inventory productivity, including sell-through, stock turn, stock availability, overstock reduction, and gross margin optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand and Inventory Planning


  • Analyze historical sales, seasonality, and market trends.
  • Forecast demand at category, design, and SKU levels.
  • Determine initial buy quantities and reorder quantities.
  • Review current stock, incoming stock, and target stock levels before making

Purchasing recommendations.


  • Establish and maintain min/max stock levels and replenishment parameters for stores and warehouses.
  • Determine safety stock and reorder points.
  • Monitor stock availability and proactively identify overstock and stockout risks.

Product and Assortment Planning


  • Recommend which designs, colors, and sizes should be launched, reordered, reduced, or discontinued.
  • Analyze product productivity and identify top sellers and slow movers.
  • Optimize assortment breadth and depth.
  • Recommend the most effective allocation of inventory investment across categories and products.

Pricing, Markdown, and Clearance Planning


  • Recommend initial selling prices for new products based on landed cost, target gross margin, competitive positioning, and expected demand.
  • Analyze sell-through, gross margin, and inventory aging to recommend price adjustments.
  • Recommend markdown percentages, promotional pricing, and clearance strategies.
  • Monitor the impact of pricing decisions on sales, inventory turnover, and profitability

Allocation and Replenishment


  • Determine stock allocation across stores and e-commerce.
  • Recommend stock transfers between locations.
  • Monitor replenishment performance and ensure stores maintain appropriate stock levels.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Merchandising, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory planning, demand planning, or retail analytics.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Odoo.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising, pricing, and inventory management.
