Job description
Role Description (Discipline General)
The Civil Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and integrity of all site infrastructure and structural elements required to support the processing units, buildings, and related facilities within refinery, renewable fuel production, and petrochemical investment project execution. Civil Engineer's involvement begins in the study and definition phase by establishing the overall site preparation strategy, including earthworks, road layouts, drainage philosophy, and preliminary designs for heavy equipment foundations and key structural steel elements. The Civil Engineer plays a central role in transforming the Process and Mechanical data into stable, durable, and code-compliant foundations and supporting infrastructure. In the definition phase, the focus is on finalizing detailed designs for deep and shallow foundations, equipment supports, paving, and underground utilities/drainage systems. This phase requires meticulous analysis to ensure spatial compliance with geotechnical reports, relevant industry building codes, and local seismic requirements. In execution phase, the design team prepares outputs, including structural steel drawings, final civil foundation drawings, hydraulic analysis for stormwater systems, Material Take-Offs (MTOs) for concrete and steel, and all relevant fabrication and construction packages. Responsible includes also managing finite element analysis (FEA) for critical structures and geotechnical specialists.
Description of tasks (Discipline General)
• Study/Concept: Geotechnical Data Review and interpretation, establishment of the preliminary Site Preparation Strategy, Basis of Design, preliminary MTOs • Definition/Basic: Soil research and foundation type report, Concrete construction plan, Main Steel construction plan, Job definitions for Building construction, updated study phase information, participation to 30% model review • Execution/Detailed: Detailed design drawings for Foundations, final Structural Steel Fabrication Drawings and connection details, Construction Specifications for concrete, steel, and earthworks, complete MTOs for procurement, Job Descriptions for construction tenders, management of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for critical structures, design reviews, as-builts and data handover
