Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Automation & Controls Engineer is responsible for the complete electrical and logical lifecycle of high-precision Fixtures used in Electronic Gadget Manufacturing. This is a hands-on role requiring a blend of expert-level PLC/HMI programming and meticulous electrical craftsmanship. The goal is to deliver automated fixtures (for assembly, testing, or dispensing) that are technically superior, electrically safe, and aesthetically organized.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Control Logic & HMI Development

  • Logic Programming: Interpret written technical requirements and drawings to develop robust PLC logic tailored for precision gadget handling. Perform comprehensive testing of the logic against customer-defined "Acceptance Criteria."
  • HMI Interfacing: Design intuitive HMI screens for fixture operation and ensure seamless communication between the PLC, HMI, and other electronic components (sensors, actuators, controllers, etc).
  • Rapid Modifications: Perform quick logic updates and hardware adjustments based on real-time customer suggestions or assembly feedback during the fixture build phase.

2. Electrical Integration & Craftsmanship

  • Wiring & Routing: Execute neat and organized wiring layouts. Prioritize aesthetics and efficiency in cable management to ensure the fixture is production-ready and professional.
  • Precision Soldering: Perform high-quality soldering for connectors, pins, and delicate electronic components, ensuring long-term durability and signal integrity for high-cycle fixture use.
  • Component Awareness: Demonstrate deep knowledge of all circuit components (SMPS, Relays, Circuit Breakers, etc.) to ensure correct selection and fitment as per the fixture drawing.

3. Safety, Grounding & Standards

  • Electrical Safety: Implement rigorous safety protocols in circuit design to protect both the operator and the sensitive electronic gadgets being processed.
  • Grounding Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of grounding and shielding techniques to eliminate electrical noise and ensure stable sensor performance in an electronic manufacturing environment.

4. Testing & Troubleshooting

  • System Validation: Lead the electrical and logical troubleshooting of the fixture. Identify and resolve root causes of communication errors, signal drops, or hardware faults.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate "As-Built" wiring diagrams and logic revision history for the final fixture handover.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Education & Experience

  • Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in industrial automation, specifically involving testing jigs, assembly fixtures, or SPMs for the electronics industry.

2. Specialized Skills

  • Software: Proficiency in PLC/HMI software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Delta , Mitsubishi GX Works, or Omron).
  • Tools: Expert use of soldering stations, multimeters, ferruling, and crimping tools.
  • Schematic Literacy: Exceptional ability to read and implement complex electrical wiring drawings and "Sequence of Operation" documents for automated fixtures.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  1. Logic Accuracy: Minimal revisions required after the initial functional test of the fixture.
  2. Wiring Aesthetics: Adherence to "Neat & Professional" routing standards with zero loose connections.
  3. Responsiveness: Rapid turnaround time for customer-requested logic or hardware modifications.
  4. Safety Compliance: 100% adherence to electrical safety and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) grounding standards during FAI.
