We are currently seeking a Citrix L3 Engineer to join our team in Bangalore, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).

Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Citrix L3 Engineer to own the design, engineering, and operational excellence of our global Citrix environment. You will serve as the technical authority for complex incidents, major changes, and platform roadmaps, supporting a large-scale deployment of 1,400+ servers and 7,000+ users. This role blends engineering depth with hands-on administration and close collaboration with application teams to virtualize and deliver apps to end users. Participation in an after-hours support rotation is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering and Architecture
    • Design, implement, and optimize Citrix XenApp/Virtual Apps architectures, multi-site/multi-zone deployments, and integration with identity, networking, and monitoring stacks.
    • Lead version upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle planning across Citrix components and supporting infrastructure.
    • Define standards and golden images for Citrix server builds, base OS hardening, packaging, and performance baselines.
  • Platform Administration and Operations
    • Administer and tune Citrix Studio, Director, and StoreFront, including delivery groups, policies, application publishing, and access control.
    • Manage Citrix databases: plan schema changes, coordinate maintenance, implement HA/DR, and ensure backup/recovery and performance.
    • Implement and support Citrix Profile Management (UPM), SSON passthrough, and policy-driven user experience optimization.
    • Oversee Citrix endpoint management: device enrollment, compliance policies, lifecycle management, and endpoint posture integration.
    • Own capacity management (concurrency, licensing, CPU/RAM/IOPS), patching strategy, and proactive health checks for large-scale estates (1,400+ servers / 7,000+ users).
  • Application Virtualization Enablement
    • Partner with application teams to assess, package, and virtualize applications for delivery via Citrix, including dependency mapping, remediation, and testing.
    • Establish packaging standards (MSI/App-V/MSIX/AppLayering), versioning, rollback, and deployment automation.
    • Build runbooks and reference architectures for repeatable app onboarding and updates.
  • Reliability, Security, and Support
    • Lead L3 incident response and problem management, drive root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
    • Develop monitoring and observability for user experience (logon times, brokering, session stability), infrastructure KPIs, and alerting thresholds.
    • Enforce security best practices: hardening, least-privilege, certificate management, SSL/TLS, and integration with MFA/IdP.
    • Maintain detailed documentation, CMDB accuracy, and change records; contribute to knowledge articles for L1/L2.
    • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and support planned maintenance windows.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Citrix engineering/administration with enterprise-scale environments.
  • Deep expertise with:
    • Citrix Virtual Apps/XenApp architecture and deployments.
    • Citrix Studio, Director, and StoreFront configuration and optimization.
    • Citrix database schema management, HA/DR, and performance tuning.
    • Citrix Profile Management (UPM) and SSON passthrough.
    • Citrix server builds, image management, and OS/application hardening.
    • Endpoint management: device enrollment, policy compliance, and lifecycle.
  • Proven experience supporting estates of at least 1,000+ servers and 5,000+ users.
  • Strong Windows Server administration (Group Policy, RDS roles, printing, FSLogix/UPM), Active Directory/Azure AD, DNS/DHCP, certificates/PKI.
  • Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, load balancing, NetScaler/ADC concepts, VPN/secure remote access.
  • Scripting/automation proficiency (PowerShell required; Git, CI/CD a plus).
  • Demonstrated incident/problem management, RCA, and change control in ITIL-oriented environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Citrix certifications (e.g., CCE-V, CCP-V).
  • Experience with Citrix Provisioning (PVS) and/or MCS, App Layering, and HDX optimization.
  • Observability tools (Citrix Director analytics, ControlUp, Splunk, SCOM, Grafana/Prometheus).
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, hybrid/cloud Citrix architectures, and capacity planning in cloud.
  • Packaging technologies (MSIX/App-V), Intune/Endpoint Manager, SCCM/MECM.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance (CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2).

Core Competencies

  • Ownership and accountability for platform reliability and user experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across the full stack.
  • Clear, actionable documentation and communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and leadership in cross-functional initiatives with networking, security, DBAs, and application teams.

Work Conditions

  • Hybrid or on-site as required for maintenance and project work.
  • Participation in an after-hours/on-call rotation and occasional weekend change windows.

Impact Metrics (Success Criteria)

  • Reduced average logon time and improved session stability (HDX KPIs).
  • High platform availability and successful completion of planned upgrades with zero critical incidents.
  • On-time delivery of app onboarding projects with documented runbooks.
