Job description

Help protect the firm by strengthening how Operational Risk losses are captured, governed, and understood. In this role, you will turn complex events into high-quality, decision-ready data and insights. You will partner across teams to drive transparency, control rigor, and continuous improvement.

Job Summary

As an Operational Risk Event Loss Reporting Associate within the International Consumer Banking & Consumer and Community Banking Risk & Controls team, you ensure the end-to-end recording, validation, and reporting of operational risk event losses in line with firmwide standards and regulatory expectations. You deliver accurate, timely insights that support governance, trend analysis, and informed decision-making, while proactively identifying data quality issues and promoting process improvements to strengthen controls and enhance efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Record Operational Risk event losses in the designated database, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Validate supporting documentation and event details to meet firmwide standards and auditability expectations.
  • Reconcile Operational Loss General Ledger (GL) activity to the Risk Event Database (RED) and resolve variances.
  • Investigate data breaks, anomalies, and control exceptions to drive remediation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with fraud risk teams, functional control managers, and business stakeholders to gather inputs.
  • Document event narratives, drivers, and financial impacts with clear, well-supported rationale.
  • Prepare recurring RED reporting packages and ad hoc analyses for stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Analyze trends, root causes, and emerging themes to inform risk management actions.
  • Deliver concise insights and recommendations that improve data quality and reporting effectiveness.
  • Escalate issues, delays, or gaps promptly with proposed paths to resolution.
  • Maintain strong quality controls, runbooks, and process discipline in a high-volume environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate experience in risk management and/or control processes within a corporate environment.
  • Apply Operational Risk concepts and regulatory expectations in day-to-day recording, validation, and reporting.
  • Use advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) to analyze data and produce stakeholder-ready outputs.
  • Perform reconciliations and basic GL analysis to support accurate loss alignment and reporting.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Operate with strong attention to detail, ownership, and sound judgment under tight timelines.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Leverage Tableau to visualize operational risk loss trends and deliver actionable insights.
  • Automate workflows using Alteryx to streamline reporting and improve data quality controls.
  • Interpret journal entries and financial transactions to strengthen GL-to-RED reconciliation accuracy.
  • Enhance control design by identifying recurring failure points and proposing preventive measures.
  • Build repeatable reporting templates and data checks to improve consistency and turnaround time.
  • Support governance routines by preparing materials for forums, reviews, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Contribute to process re-engineering efforts that reduce manual touchpoints and operational risk.
