General Summary:
As a leading technology innovator, Qualcomm pushes the boundaries of what's possible to enable next-generation experiences and drives digital transformation to help create a smarter, connected future for all. As a Qualcomm Hardware Engineer, you will plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, bring-up yield, circuits, mechanical systems, Digital/Analog/RF/optical systems, equipment and packaging, test systems, FPGA, and/or DSP systems that launch cutting-edge, world class products. Qualcomm Hardware Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions and meet performance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
We are looking for a senior validation engineer to own thermal, current, and power-limit behavior validation for Oryon server-class CPUs, ensuring robust protection, mitigation, and performance stability from first silicon through production.
What you’ll do
• Validate thermal, current, and power limit mechanisms across CPU cores, uncore, and SoC domains
• Own validation of mitigation flows: throttling, DVFS, clock gating, power gating, and emergency responses
• Stress and characterize CPUs under worst-case workloads, corners, and environmental conditions
• Debug issues involving thermal sensors, current monitors, limit enforcement, and firmware policies
• Correlate behavior across emulation, lab silicon, and system platforms
• Partner with Firmware, PnP, PD, Systems, and Reliability teams to close issues and tune guardbands
• Support ES bring-up, stepping qualification, and production sign-off
What we’re looking for
• 12–20 years of experience in thermal, power, or system validation for CPUs/SoCs
• Strong understanding of thermal dynamics, current limits, DVFS, and protection mechanisms
• Hands-on experience with post-silicon lab validation and instrumentation
• Ability to debug HW–FW interactions related to mitigation and protection flows
• Strong ownership mindset and cross-functional communication skills
Impact: Ensure Oryon server CPUs operate safely, predictably, and efficiently under real-world thermal and power stress, enabling reliable performance at scale.
