This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 1500000 - Rs 4000000 (ie INR 15-40 LPA) Experience: 5+ yrs Location: India Job Type: Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Credit Manager – Risk to lead credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio evaluation activities for commercial and corporate lending.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Underwriting and Credit Analysis , with the ability to evaluate complex credit proposals, identify potential risks, and make informed lending recommendations that align with organizational risk appetite and business objectives.
In this role, you will work closely with business, relationship management, operations, and risk teams to ensure sound credit decisions, maintain portfolio quality, and support sustainable business growth.
The position requires strong analytical capabilities, financial statement analysis expertise, and a thorough understanding of credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities Evaluate credit proposals by conducting detailed financial, business, and risk assessments for corporate and commercial lending opportunities.
Perform comprehensive underwriting of new and existing credit facilities while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
Analyze financial statements, cash flows, business performance, industry trends, and borrower repayment capacity to determine creditworthiness.
Assess collateral, security structures, covenant compliance, and overall transaction risk before recommending credit decisions.
Prepare detailed credit appraisal notes, risk assessment reports, and underwriting recommendations for approval committees.
Monitor existing credit portfolios to identify early warning signals, emerging risks, and opportunities for proactive risk mitigation.
Collaborate with business teams to structure credit solutions that balance customer requirements with prudent risk management practices.
Review exposure limits, credit ratings, and borrower performance to ensure portfolio quality and minimize credit losses.
Support periodic portfolio reviews, stress testing, and credit monitoring activities to maintain asset quality.
Coordinate with legal, operations, compliance, and relationship management teams to facilitate seamless credit processing and documentation.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal governance standards, and audit expectations throughout the credit lifecycle.
Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting methodologies, risk assessment frameworks, and credit evaluation processes.
What Makes You a Great Fit 5+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Credit Underwriting, Credit Analysis, or Commercial Banking.
Strong expertise in Underwriting and Credit Analysis for corporate, commercial, or institutional lending.
Proven ability to evaluate financial statements, cash flow projections, business models, and repayment capacity.
Solid understanding of credit risk assessment, portfolio monitoring, financial analysis, and lending policies.
Experience working with corporate borrowers, SME financing, or structured lending environments.
Familiarity with Wholesale Banking , Trade Finance , and Risk Analysis is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of credit documentation, collateral evaluation, covenant monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across business, risk, and operations teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial analysis tools, and credit underwriting systems.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications such as CA, CFA, FRM, or MBA (Finance) will be an added advantage.
