This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 5+ years Location: Tamil Nadu, India JobType: full-time We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Design Engineer – HVAC to join our engineering team.
The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of hands-on experience in HVAC system design, engineering calculations, and preparation of technical drawings for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
The candidate will be responsible for designing efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant HVAC systems while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful applicant should possess strong technical expertise in HVAC design principles, load calculations, equipment selection, duct and piping design, ventilation systems, and energy-efficient solutions.
Experience with engineering software such as Revit, Navisworks, and HAP will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities Design and develop HVAC systems including air conditioning, ventilation, heating, exhaust, and pressurization systems.
Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry-standard methods and software.
Prepare HVAC design drawings, layouts, schematics, and detailed engineering documentation.
Select and size HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping systems, pumps, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, and ventilation equipment.
Review project specifications, client requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Conduct technical evaluations of equipment and materials and provide recommendations for optimal system performance.
Participate in design reviews, value engineering exercises, and technical discussions with clients and consultants.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Support project execution teams by providing design clarifications and resolving technical issues.
Prepare BOQs, technical reports, equipment schedules, and project documentation.
Contribute to energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC design solutions.
Required SkillsMust-Have Skills Strong expertise in HVAC Design and Engineering .
Thorough understanding of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
Experience in HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection.
Knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards, and best practices.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Good-to-Have Skills Proficiency in Revit for HVAC modeling and coordination.
Experience using Navisworks (NAVIS) for design review and clash detection.
Hands-on experience with HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) for load calculations and energy analysis.
Familiarity with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary project coordination.
Knowledge of energy modeling and sustainable building design concepts.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
5–8 years of experience in HVAC design engineering.
Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, residential, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Knowledge of BIM-based project environments will be an advantage.
