Job Description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all engineering systems, equipment, and facilities within the hotel. The role ensures guest comfort, safety, regulatory compliance, and smooth functioning of the property through effective preventive maintenance and team management.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage and supervise the hotel engineering and maintenance team.
  • Oversee daily operations of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire and life safety systems, and other technical services.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of guest rooms, kitchens, laundry, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with local safety regulations, environmental standards, and hotel policies.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for repairs and projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, utilities, and building systems.
  • Manage engineering budgets, inventory, spare parts, and maintenance records.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and technical issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and safety checks.
  • Support hotel renovation, refurbishment, and engineering improvement projects.
  • Train and develop engineering staff on technical skills, safety procedures, and hotel standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, or a similar role in a hospitality or large commercial property environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, DG sets, fire and life safety systems, and building management systems (BMS)
  • Proven experience managing and supervising a maintenance team in a hotel or large commercial property
  • Demonstrated expertise in preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of local safety regulations, environmental standards, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in budget management, cost control, and inventory management for engineering departments
  • Excellent troubleshooting and emergency response capabilities for critical system failures
