Responsibilities
Execution & Engineering Delivery
Execute I&C scope for various capital and expense projects, providing engineering analysis and consultation.
Review and validate I&C construction work packages that meet Chevron specifications, industry codes, and site requirements.
Manage multiple projects and support deliverables concurrently, balancing priorities across projects, and operations support.
I&C Design & Technical Scope
Apply Chevron and applicable industry engineering standards and Safety in Design principles.
Review and validate I&C deliverables produced by Engineering Partners, ensuring compliance with Chevron standards, DM&C (DOWNSTREAM, MIDSTREAM & CHEMICALS) requirements, and applicable codes Including but not limited to: Control philosophies, Cause & Effect diagrams, P&IDs and I&C markups, Area classification drawings, Instrument Index, Instrumentation/Valve datasheets and calculations, Process Automation architectural/Network diagrams
Testing and Validation procedures
Provide timely technical resolution for RFIs, TQs, and field changes related to I&C scope, maintaining alignment with approved designs and standards
Support the design and analysis of: Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) , PLC-based control systems, Analyzer systems Field instrumentation (including HART), Electrical power distribution systems (i.e. low voltage, control systems), Other oil & gas / process technology equipment, Operations & Remote Technical Support.
Provide active remote I&C support to Operations, Maintenance, and technical teams to: Troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical issues, Scope repairs, modifications, and improvements.
Develop practical engineering solutions for operating facilities
Support implementation of solutions through routine maintenance, turnaround execution, and project work.
Process Safety & Management of Change
Support and execute Management of Change (MOC) activities for I&C design packages and field modifications.
Participate in and contribute to process safety and risk reviews (e.g., HAZOP, hazard analysis), as applicable.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Project teams to ensure solutions are safe, operable, and maintainable.
Provide guidance on technical inquiries and issue technical recommendations.
Support improvements to I&C engineering tools, standard work processes, and workflows.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a recognized university.
Minimum 10 years of I&C experience including brownfield environment.
Demonstrated experience providing I&C engineering support to operating facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
10-15 years of experience in oil & gas (e.g. refining, LNG, and/or petrochemical) environments.
Experience executing brownfield projects for onshore facilities and infrastructure and/or complex process facilities.
Knowledge of applicable Chevron / DM&C (DOWNSTREAM, MIDSTREAM & CHEMICALS) engineering standards, technical codes, and deviation / waiver processes.
Ability to scope, review, and validate I&C engineering deliverables across all project phases (early shaping through execution and turnover)
Familiarity with safety lifecycle activities (e.g., AOA/COA, FSA, audits)
Strong working knowledge of Analysers, PLC, DCS and SIS controls systems (i.e. Allen Bradley, Honeywell, Yokogawa)
Process instrumentation and control valves (i.e. specification, design review, and execution support)
Construction, Turnaround, and startup execution support (RFI and TQ response)
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm
