Project description A large Australian financial institution has engaged us to provide resources for their Digital transformation & app modernization on multiple applications. We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications. You will play a key role throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to engineering best practices. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Core Java and Spring Boot. Design and implement scalable Microservices following industry best practices. Develop RESTful APIs and integrate applications with internal and external systems. Build and support event-driven solutions using Kafka. Apply SOLID principles and Design Patterns to produce clean, maintainable, and reusable code. Develop cloud-native applications and support deployments on cloud platforms. Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and application performance. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and troubleshooting activities. Collaborate with Architects, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC. Contribute to CI/CD implementation and support containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes. Produce technical documentation and ensure compliance with coding standards, security guidelines, and quality processes. Skills Must have 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong hands-on experience with Core Java. Strong experience in developing applications using Spring Boot. Experience working with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven applications. Strong understanding of Design Principles, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns. Experience designing and developing Microservices Architecture. Good understanding of Database Concepts, SQL, and data modelling. Basic working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes. Experience working in Agile development environments and across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Nice to have Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins. Knowledge of Git and source code management practices. Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools. Exposure to Banking or Financial Services domain. Experience working with JIRA or similar Agile project management tools. Other Languages English: B2 Upper Intermediate Seniority Regular
