What you’ll do:

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives for Industrial LED Lighting portfolios within GEIS. The role provides technical leadership, coaching, and domain expertise to GEIS NPI teams, ensuring successful execution of product design, certification, and portfolio delivery. The position demands strong engineering acumen, hands-on design experience, and leadership capability, with a proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and deliver compliant, high-performance lighting products for global markets. "• Spearhead and deliver multiple NPI programs aligned with business strategy, revenue growth, and Profit Plan commitments
• Drive world-class execution excellence across design, validation, and product commercialization
• Serve as recognized technical authority (SME) for electromechanical/mechanical design, providing single-point ownership for cross-functional alignment (Testing, Certification, SCM, Procurement, Resourcing)
• Own and govern end-to-end product lifecycle (concept → validation → release) for Industrial LED luminaires
• Translate business and customer requirements into optimized system architectures and component designs, leveraging modelling, analysis, and engineering best practices
• Lead development and release of engineering deliverables (CAD, drawings, assemblies) in full alignment with PLM governance and program milestones
• Lead high-impact design proposals, technical strategies, and executive-level design reviews (internal and customer-facing)
• Ensure proactive and embedded compliance strategy with global standards (UL, IEC, ATEX, CSA) across the entire product lifecycle
• Define and drive certification strategy and execution, acting as primary interface with certification bodies, labs, and global compliance teams
• Establish and oversee robust validation and test strategies aligned to IEC/UL standards, including setup, instrumentation, and qualification
• Lead complex failure analysis and root cause investigations, driving systemic corrective and preventive actions
• Drive reliability engineering strategy (FMEA, reliability modeling) and provide technical oversight on simulations (thermal, CFD, structural)
• Champion DFSS, DMAIC, and Lean principles to elevate product quality, robustness, and cost competitiveness
• Influence and align cross-functional and global engineering decisions, ensuring seamless collaboration and delivery
• Own program planning, resource estimation, risk mitigation, and quality deliverables with strong governance rigor
• Define system-level optical requirements (lumen output, beam control, uniformity, glare management) aligned to application needs
• Lead design and optimization of optical systems (lenses, reflectors, diffusers) to deliver superior application performance
• Drive system-level optimization of light output, efficiency, and performance, balancing thermal and mechanical constraints
• Ensure compliance with application-specific regulations, including dark sky and environmental requirements
• Develop and mentor engineering talent, building strong technical capability and future leadership pipeline
• Drive innovation strategy and intellectual property development from concept through execution

Qualifications:

BE/Masters-Mechanical or Equivalent from an accredited institution
"• Minimum 10 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Bachelor’s Degree 
• Minimum of 7 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Master’s Degree"



Skills:

"• Expert-level understanding of international product safety and compliance standards, including UL, CSA, IEC, EN, ATEX, IECEx, NEC, and CEC.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply relevant electrical and mechanical codes and standards.
• Proficient in developing and reviewing construction documents, SOPs, and test plans for certification.
• Skilled in analyzing complex test data and providing strategic technical recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience managing global certification projects from initiation to completion, including stakeholder engagement and documentation control.
• In-depth knowledge of hazardous area classifications and applications (preferred).
• Proficiency in compliance platforms such as UL Product iQ, IECEx Online, and other certification management tools.
• Familiarity with safety and compliance software tools and digital documentation systems.
• Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to lead multiple high-impact projects under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills to influence internal and external stakeholders."
