WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a Lead Firewall Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of network security engineers. You will be responsible for designing sprint scopes, managing firewall deployments, and driving innovation in cloud firewall capabilities. This role requires a strong understanding of network security principles, hands-on experience with firewall technologies, and the ability to lead and develop team members. Primary customers and peer groups will be Core Infrastructure Engineering, Corporate Information Security, and Nike Operations Center.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The candidate shall have enterprise level Security acumen, experience working on Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls, and managerial experience. 


  • 7+ years of experience in a network security engineering role


  • Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Networks security solutions


  • Understanding of network design and operations across full stack technologies


  • Knowledge of network threat prevention methodologies and protocols


  • Experience with Network Access Control systems such as Cisco ISE


  • Hands-on experience with traffic decryption and privacy regulations


  • Proficiency with network automation tools and scripting languages


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities


WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will be responsible for leading sprints and providing leadership to a Firewall Squad for IT networks, play a role is building automations, Agents, and solutions to further Nike’s journey towards Zero-Trust networks. 


  • Provides leadership to the squad/work team, delivering a vision for work requirements for the quarter; Designs the scope of sprints within the quarter


  • Mentors and develops the capabilities of team members


  • Conducts technical assessments of team members and provides feedback on performance as necessary.


  • Identifies interdependencies between systems/products, assesses risk, and develops mitigation strategies in major initiatives


  • Serves as the critical technical lead for a major business solution from ideation to implementation


  • Demonstrates engineering ownership for a system(s), proactively anticipating concerns and escalating them to management


  • Holds team members accountable to quality standards, ensuring that the needs of the business are met and a high-quality user experience is delivered


  • Managing large scale NGFW deployment


  • Lead POC activities for Cloud Firewall capabilities
