As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Card Financial Transactions team, you serve in a critical leadership role by delivering advanced technology solutions as an individual and as a technical coach and mentor to a team of highly-skilled and motivated software engineers. As an expert in your field, you are responsible for critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within the team in support of the firm’s business objectives.


Job responsibilities


  • Provides guidance to the immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to execute creative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches.
  • Develops secure high-quality production code and sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams and leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcome-oriented designs and ensure applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Leads team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes, while setting expectations for human validation, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and consistent use of reusable patterns across teams.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more languages – Java, Spring Framework or Database Query Languages
  • Proficiency in AWS, Containers (Kubernetes/EKS), ECS, Lambda, Step functions, Apache Kafka, MSK, AWS RDS Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB, SQS
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable applications in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with AWS Cloud services like compute, storage, databases, network, application integration, monitoring & alerting, Identity & Access Management
  • Advanced experience in building microservices architecture and RESTful API development is needed.
  • Expertise with modern monitoring and logging tools (e.g., DataDog, Dynatrace, Splunk).
  • Ability to drive collaboration effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, and stakeholders. Experience with  software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience leading responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools across engineering teams, including defining ways of working (review/validation expectations), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of data.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and governance expectations; ability to coach engineers on compliant and effective usage.
