Job Description

Nielsen is a global leader in audience insights, data, and analytics, shaping the future of media. Our AdIntel (Advertising Intelligence) division is the industry’s gold standard for competitive advertising data. We track millions of occurrences across TV, Digital, Social, Radio, and Print to provide brands with a 360-degree view of the media landscape.

As a Senior Software Engineer based in our Gurgaon hub, you will be at the heart of our technical transformation. You will architect and build robust .NET/ASP applications and high-scale ETL data pipelines required to process and serve massive global advertising datasets. This is a role for a high-impact engineer who thrives on solving complex data challenges, managing enterprise-grade Windows infrastructure, and leading end-to-end technical solutions in a hybrid, fast-paced environment.

  • Application Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable web applications and APIs using the .NET/ASP.NET ecosystem to support critical AdIntel business operations.
  • Data Pipeline Engineering: Build, optimize, and maintain robust ETL pipelines that ingest, transform, and integrate diverse media datasets into unified analytics platforms.
  • Database Optimization: Architect complex relational database schemas and write highly optimized queries across PostgreSQL and MySQL to ensure high availability and performance for large-scale data processing.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee application deployment, configuration, and maintenance on Windows Server environments, ensuring secure and resilient hosting (e.g., IIS management, server monitoring).
  • End-to-End Leadership: Own the full SDLC for critical projects, from initial architecture design and requirement gathering to deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Navigating Ambiguity: Act as a technical lead in resolving complex, ill-defined problems, translating business needs into robust architectural blueprints.
  • Technical Mentorship: Drive engineering excellence within the Gurgaon team by establishing best practices, performing deep code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on enterprise-level application development.
  • Core Engineering: Deep proficiency in C#, .NET (Core and Framework), and ASP.NET (MVC/Web API), alongside a strong foundation in CS fundamentals.
  • Database Expertise: Strong hands-on experience designing and optimizing relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Server Administration: Practical experience managing, deploying, and troubleshooting applications on Windows Server architectures.
  • System Design: Deep expertise in architecting scalable backend infrastructure and managing the end-to-end SDLC.
  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve ambiguities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information
  • ETL/Data Ecosystem: Proven track record of designing high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines for complex, varied data sources (batch processing, data warehousing).
  • Modernization & Scale: Experience scaling monolithic .NET applications or transitioning legacy systems into microservices and modern data architectures.
  • Cloud Familiarity: Experience bridging on-premise Windows Server environments with cloud-native data orchestration tools or storage.
  • Innovation Mindset: A passion for researching and implementing new technologies to optimize system performance, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.
