Piping Stress Engineer

KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for Piping Stress Engineers to support the design and delivery of critical offshore oil & gas, LNG, and process platform projects worldwide. The role focuses on advanced detailed engineering activities for piping systems across WHP, fixed platforms, FPSO, and LNG facilities.



We are seeking an experienced Piping Stress Engineer with strong capabilities in performing detailed stress analysis to ensure all potential loading conditions on piping systems are thoroughly evaluated and addressed within the design framework. The role requires detailed engineering expertise, interdisciplinary coordination, and the use of industry-standard tools to ensure piping systems comply with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:



  • Perform piping stress analysis and flexibility calculations for various operating and load conditions



  • Review and provide inputs to plant layout, including load coordination with other disciplines



  • Develop and review piping mechanical specifications and special studies



  • Prepare calculations, drawings, and datasheets for Special Piping (SP) items



  • Develop SP item requisition worksheets and technical documentation



  • Design and develop pipe support systems, including support drawings, locations, and requisition worksheets



  • Perform advanced stress analysis including fatigue, blast, hog and sag (FPSO), and other structural considerations



  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications



  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated engineering execution



  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers



Qualifications:



Required:



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent



  • 7–20 years of experience in piping stress analysis for offshore projects (WHP, Fixed Platforms, FPSO, LNG)



  • Strong expertise in Caesar II for piping flexibility analysis



  • Experience in support selection, design, and special support drawing development



  • Knowledge of Navis Model / Review / Reality tools



  • Strong understanding of fatigue, blast analysis, and FPSO structural considerations (hog/sag)



  • Experience in multicenter project execution and offshore project environments



  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and within teams



  • Proven ability to guide and mentor junior engineers



Preferred:



  • Knowledge of AIV (Acoustic Induced Vibration) / FIV (Flow Induced Vibration)



  • Experience in PML macro development



  • Experience working on Shell DEP, Qatar Petroleum (QP), or other Middle East project
