Job description

If you are a Senior Application Developer with strong Python backend and full-stack expertise, this role offers the opportunity to build and maintain enterprise-grade products and asset management platforms for a global automation technology leader. You will design Python REST and GraphQL APIs, integrate with documentation vendors such as Zoomin, and deliver React front-end interfaces that surface product and asset data to engineers, administrators, and customers across Emerson's global network.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Design, build, and maintain Python-based REST APIs and backend services, using FastAPI or Django REST Framework.
  • Design and expose GraphQL APIs where product and asset data consumption patterns require flexible, client-driven queries, and maintain and evolve existing GraphQL schemas.
  • Develop and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations supporting product registry, asset tracking, and documentation metadata at production scale.
  • Integrate with Zoomin and other third-party documentation vendor APIs, managing content delivery, publication workflows, and metadata synchronization between internal systems and external platforms.
  • Build and maintain React.js front-end components and interfaces that surface product and asset data to end users, including state management (Redux or Context API) and responsive UI design.
  • Apply the full SDLC to deliver solutions across the product and asset portfolio, from requirements analysis through testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across Python APIs, PostgreSQL, and React layers, conduct root cause analysis, and implement durable performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, System Analysts, QA teams, and the backend developer to deliver platform features.
  • Maintain API contracts, data models, integration guides, and runbooks for owned services.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and CI/CD delivery practices using Azure DevOps.

Who You Are:

You analyze multiple and diverse sources of information to define problems accurately before moving to solutions. You act with a clear sense of ownership and take personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures. You effectively communicate in various settings and provide timely, helpful information to individuals across the organization. You partner with others to get work done and create teamwork that allows the organization to achieve shared objectives. You step up to address difficult issues and are willing to champion ideas on their merits.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience with proven full-stack Python delivery in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in building and maintaining production-grade REST APIs using FastAPI or Django REST Framework.
  • Hands-on experience designing or consuming GraphQL APIs, including schema definition, resolvers, and client query patterns.
  • Experience designing PostgreSQL schemas, writing complex queries, managing migrations, and optimizing query performance for production workloads.
  • Experience designing, versioning, and consuming REST APIs, familiarity with OAuth2, JWT, and API key authentication patterns.
  • Solid experience building React.js front-end interfaces with modern JavaScript (ES6+), state management (Redux or Context API), component lifecycle management, and responsive UI design.
  • Experience integrating with external SaaS or documentation delivery platforms via REST or webhook-based workflows.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines and sprint-based delivery with advanced English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart

  • Experience with Zoomin, Paligo, MadCap Flare, or similar structured documentation delivery and API platforms.
  • Familiarity with product information management (PIM) systems, digital asset management (DAM), or product catalog APIs.
  • Experience with asynchronous task processing in Python, including Celery, RQ, or FastAPI Background Tasks.
  • Knowledge of Git, Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks (PyTest, Jest, Cypress).
  • Basic familiarity with containerization (Docker) for local development and pipeline stages.
  • Experience working in international, cross-time zone Agile delivery teams.
