Build the future of credit and payments for millions of Amazon customers, using AI-native engineering, modern AWS technologies, and large-scale distributed systems.
Join Amazon Pay Later to build fintech products from the ground up in a start-up-like environment, while operating at Amazon scale across payments, lending, customer experience, and partner integrations.
Amazon Pay Later is looking for passionate SDE II engineers to design, build, and scale the next generation of credit and payments products for Amazon customers. This is a high-impact role in Amazon India’s Emerging Payments team, where you will work at the intersection of payments, lending, machine learning, customer experience, partner integrations, and large-scale distributed systems.
The systems you build will handle highly sensitive customer and financial data, power high-traffic payment flows, and deliver low-latency, highly reliable experiences across Amazon surfaces. You will solve complex engineering problems across scale, security, availability, latency, compliance, and partner reliability.
As part of this team, you will build platform capabilities from the ground up, influence product and technology direction, and work on modern cloud-native architectures using AWS technologies such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, Kinesis, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, VPC, NLB, KMS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, X-Ray, AWS CDK, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and other AWS DevOps capabilities.
You will also get the opportunity to work on AI-led engineering and product capabilities, including GenAI-assisted design and development, automated testing, intelligent operational insights, ML-driven customer eligibility, credit decisioning, personalized customer experiences, and GenAI-powered customer assistance. The team will leverage technologies such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q Developer, SageMaker, and internal AI tools to accelerate the software development lifecycle and build smarter customer-facing products.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work like a builder in a start-up environment while having the reach, resources, and technical bar of Amazon. You will partner closely with Product, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Security, Operations, and external financial partners, including leading banks and NBFCs, to launch and scale customer-facing fintech products.
The platform is being designed for extensibility across emerging markets, creating opportunities to build reusable capabilities, solve globally relevant fintech problems, and contribute to a strong portfolio of innovation and patents for Amazon.
We are looking for engineers with strong computer science fundamentals, high ownership, and the ability to deliver high-quality software in ambiguous environments. Experience building large-scale distributed systems, web services, payment systems, or customer-facing applications at scale will be highly valuable. More importantly, we are looking for builders who are excited to learn fast, use AI to raise their productivity, raise the engineering bar, and deliver products that can meaningfully change how customers access credit and pay on Amazon.
If you are excited by fintech, payments, AI-native engineering, distributed systems, high-scale customer impact, and the opportunity to build products from scratch within Amazon, this is the team for you.
