Job description

About the team
Amazon Time and Pay Innovation (T&PA) is building world-class workforce management and pay computation systems for Amazon's global hourly workforce. Our technology provides the foundation and orchestration for key human resource processes — from onboarding at scale during peak seasons to integrating critical employee data across internal and external systems. We build highly secure, global software that enables Amazon to effectively manage its workforce, delivering a better employee experience and stronger business outcomes.
The Opportunity
We are looking for Senior Software Development Engineers who thrive in a fast-paced environment building large-scale intelligent products and services. You'll design consumer-grade experiences using a service-oriented architecture built on native AWS technologies.
T&PA's mission is to build intuitive, friction-free time systems for all users — enabling accurate time and pay management, supporting rapid business expansion, and flexibly accommodating future innovation. We serve Amazon employees globally across multiple lines of business, solving complex problems at unprecedented scale.
Key job responsibilities
Own and influence architecture and design decisions for large-scale distributed systems
Write critical-path code and solve problems at Amazon scale using highly scalable AWS technologies
Contribute to all aspects of an agile software development lifecycle — design, architecture, development, documentation, testing, and operations
Drive end-to-end ownership of solutions through full-stack software development
Identify and solve ambiguous, high-impact problems
Coach and mentor engineers on the team
A day in the life
Designing, implementing, and testing software solutions using native AWS technologies
Collaborating cross-functionally with senior engineers, managers, product managers, and customers to define requirements
Translating complex business logic into reusable, scalable code
Periodically providing on-call support
Driving Operational Excellence and Engineering Excellence for the team
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
