Job description

Role Summary:


Site Feasibility Assessment: Assessment of site feasibility for construction & finalization of conceptual outline for provision of structures and its design.


Analysis and Design: Perform analysis and design by STAAD, Etab and manually for Formwork, shuttering, Machine Foundation, special structures like Underground and overhead Water Tanks, Water proofing, etc. along with their foundations based on site conditions and applicable standards ( i.e. NBC/IS/IRC etc.).


Preparation of Design Document and Drawings: Preparation/Review and finalization of design documents and drawings for further approval and site execution.


Collaboration: Work with other internal & external stakeholders (i.e Electrical/mechanical design team, external vendors) and construction teams to integrate design recommendations into project.


Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies such as protection/safety measures.


Client interaction: Ensure required approval from client or appointed authorities in project and maintenance of findings, design documents, recommendations, and technical specifications for stakeholders.


Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, building codes, and environmental national & international standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES



Feasibility Assessment  


  • Conduct initial structural analysis and review site conditions. 
  • Evaluate soil data, topography, and existing infrastructure. 
  • Assess practicality of construction methods and material availability. 
  • Identify constraints (space, logistics, environment, load conditions).

Design/Drawing and Recommendations 


  • Prepare structural designs considering codes and standards (IS, ACI, BS, Eurocode). 
  • Develop construction drawings and details (plans, sections, reinforcement details). 
  • Recommend optimal structural systems and materials. 
  • Ensure structural safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness

Submission & Approvals


  • Prepare and submit structural design packages for review/approval.
  • Respond to client, architect, or authority comments. 
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory submission requirements. 
  • Coordinate updates and revisions

Risk Assessment & Mitigation


  • Identify structural risks (instability, settlement, vibration, water ingress). 
  • Evaluate risks related to construction methods and site safety. 
  • Propose mitigation strategies (e.g., redundancy, drainage systems, design alterations).

Collaboration and Reporting


  • Work closely with architects, MEP, geotechnical, and construction teams. 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings. 
  • Communicate design changes and technical requirements effectively.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders

Monitoring and Inspection


  • Review site implementation against approved structural drawings.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and site visits. 
  • Provide technical support to resolve construction issues. 
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC processes

Environmental and Regulatory Compliance


  • Ensure structural designs meet local building codes and environmental norms.
  • Factor in environmental impacts (e.g., flood zones, earthquake zones). 
  • Provide support in obtaining environmental clearances if required

Project Management and Budgeting


  • Estimate structural material quantities and costs. 
  • Support in preparing BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and cost-effective solutions. 
  • Assist in project scheduling and resource planning. 
  • Ensure scope adherence and monitor design-related delays or cost overruns

  • Work together to establish accurate site boundaries, elevations, and other geospatial data that affect the design and analysis.
  • Collaborate on the interpretation of topographic maps, soil profiles, and subsurface conditions.

Draftsperson 


  • Collaborate and finalize the drawings based on design and requirement at site.
  • Share design data like requirements of reinforcement, cross section or steel sections to finalize the drawing.
  • Convey the best feasible way to present the details in drawing to make the construction activity easy.

External Stakeholder

  • Discuss for approval of submitted documents, technical & project requirements, budget, and timelines.

  • Mtech in Structural Engineering is preferred
