This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 300000 - Rs 900000 (ie INR 3- 9 LPA) Min Experience: 3+ years Location: Bengaluru JobType: full-time We are looking for a detail-oriented Structural Steel Checker with 3–8 years of experience in structural steel detailing and quality checking.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Tekla Structures and will be responsible for reviewing structural steel models, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings to ensure they comply with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
As a Structural Steel Checker, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and quality of deliverables before they are released for fabrication.
You will work closely with detailers, project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to identify discrepancies, resolve technical issues, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities Review and check structural steel models, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings prepared in Tekla Structures .
Verify dimensions, connections, member sizes, welds, bolts, assemblies, and material specifications for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure detailing complies with client standards, project specifications, engineering design documents, and fabrication requirements.
Perform quality checks on GA drawings, shop drawings, NC files, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Identify inconsistencies, clashes, missing information, and constructability issues before drawing release.
Coordinate with structural engineers, steel detailers, and project teams to resolve technical queries and implement revisions.
Ensure all deliverables adhere to established quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Review revisions and maintain proper version control throughout the project lifecycle.
Support project teams in meeting delivery schedules without compromising quality.
Contribute to continuous process improvements by sharing best practices and mentoring junior detailers when required.
Required Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
3–8 years of experience in structural steel detailing and checking.
Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify drafting and modeling errors efficiently.
Good communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional and international teams.
Must-Have Skills Strong hands-on experience with Tekla Structures .
Expertise in checking structural steel detailing models and fabrication drawings.
Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings accurately.
Thorough understanding of steel connections, assemblies, and fabrication workflows.
Experience reviewing Bills of Materials, shop drawings, and erection drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills with a quality-focused approach.
Good-to-Have Skills Working knowledge of AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards and detailing practices.
Familiarity with Tekla customization, templates, and drawing management features.
Understanding of international structural steel detailing standards and quality procedures.
Exposure to coordination with BIM and multidisciplinary project teams.
Knowledge of fabrication processes, CNC data generation, and production workflows.
