Job description

Come build the future of entertainment with us. Are you interested in shaping the future of movies and television? Do you want to define the next generation of how and what Amazon customers are watching?
Prime Video DigiFlex Operations (PVGO) is a team that relentlessly works with partners and is responsible for ingesting content using both partner-facing and internal technologies. We obsess over ensuring that every search, discovery and playback interaction with Prime Video (PV) is device agnostic, defect free and results in a high engagement experience for Customers. We collaborate with stakeholders across Prime Video to define, refine and uphold PV’s Customer experience, Quality bar and metrics. PVGO plays an essential role in Prime Video, ensuring that the content that powers our vision to be the premier source of global entertainment is complete and correct.
We are a group of entertainment enthusiasts based out of Chennai, passionate about ensuring all our customers around the globe have access to the content they need when they need it. Our Tooling & Automation team owns and operates a mission-critical internal Work Management Platform that powers 100+ operational workflows used daily by hundreds of associates for content publishing, quality assurance, and model training. We are looking for a strong Systems Development Engineer to take ownership of platform modules, drive architectural improvements, and deliver high-impact features that scale the platform to meet growing operational tooling needs.
Key job responsibilities
Systems Development Engineer will contribute to all aspects of agile systems development life cycle including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing, and operations. Primary responsibilities include:
• Owning end-to-end design, development, deployment, and operation of Work Management Platform modules and features.
• Leading technical design for medium-to-large platform feature initiatives, making sound architectural decisions that balance complexity, scalability, and delivery speed.
• Developing tools, automation, and monitoring solutions; defining operational processes and improving operational excellence and readiness of platform systems.
• Engineering data pipelines, workflow orchestration, and integrations between the platform and upstream/downstream systems using AWS-native services (Step Functions, Lambda, DynamoDB).
• Building proactive monitoring with fail-fast alerting across mission-critical platform workflows to ensure system reliability and early issue detection.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing production software issues; implementing fixes for internally developed code with urgency.
• Reducing operational toil through force-multiplier tooling, infrastructure automation, and platform self-service capabilities.
• Collaborating with product managers and operations leaders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive the platform product roadmap.
• Contributing to design reviews and code reviews with substantive technical feedback; mentoring junior engineers on the team.
A day in the life
As a SysDE II, your role is pivotal in maintaining the robust and innovative solutions of our team. You will work on complex challenges in both platform maintenance and new feature development, focusing on areas with ambiguity. Your goal is to design and develop software systems that are secure, maintainable, scalable, and extendable. You will own the full engineering lifecycle - from design through deployment and operations - driving architectural decisions, leading feature delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring operational excellence for a platform that is central to PVGO’s daily operations.
