Role Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled Battery Pack Design Lead to spearhead the design, development, and integration of advanced battery pack and rack systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in electro-mechanical design with leadership skills to drive innovation, ensure safety, and deliver scalable solutions for utility-scale and commercial energy storage projects


  • Design & Development
    • Lead the end-to-end design of battery modules and  packs for BESS applications, including mechanical, electrical, and thermal aspects.
    • Define architecture, module configuration, and enclosure design ensuring compliance with safety, performance, and reliability standards.
    • Develop CAD models, drawings, and BOMs for pack/rack assemblies.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Guide cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, thermal, controls) in design reviews and decision-making.
    • Establish design standards, best practices, and validation protocols.
    • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure designs meet international standards (UL, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.)  IEC 62619, UL 1973, UN 38.3, IEC 62620, IEC 61000, IEC 60529, QM 333, IATF 16949, ISO standards.  for electrical safety, fire protection, and mechanical integrity.
    • Integrate safety features such as thermal runaway mitigation, fault isolation, and protective housings.
  • Integration & Testing
    • Collaborate with system engineers to integrate packs into overall BESS solutions.
    • Oversee prototype builds, validation testing, and qualification processes.
    • Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Project Management
    • Manage design timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners for component sourcing and production readiness.
    • Support cost optimization and scalability for mass deployment
  • Knowledge and connect with the relevant vendors and subcontractors for all the design support activities such as mechanical fabrication, Laser welding etc

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s / Master’s/ PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Battery Chemistry or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in battery pack/rack design, preferably in energy storage or EV applications.
  • Strong expertise in: 
    • CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, etc.)
    • Thermal management systems (air/liquid cooling)
    • Structural design and materials selection
    • Electrical integration (busbars, connectors, fuses, BMS interfaces)
  • Proven track record of leading design teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and certification processes for BESS.
