Technical Lead - Platform SW (Avionics)


Primary Purpose of the Role


We are looking for a Technical Lead to develop platform SW for our next generation Avionics systems.


The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and hands-on development expertise in device driver development, Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and safety-critical software processes. This role involves guiding a development team, ensuring adherence to DO-178C standards, and driving the successful delivery of certification-ready software components.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the design, development, integration, and maintenance of embedded software components for Avionics computers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team to ensure high-quality and efficient software delivery.
  • Implement and optimize device drivers and middleware layers on RTOS-based systems.
  • Conduct and lead design & code reviews to ensure compliance with DO-178C standards.
  • Collaborate closely with safety, hardware, and system engineering teams to meet certification and project objectives.
  • Create and review software development artifacts including requirements, design documents, test cases, and verification reports.
  • Support debugging, verification, and validation activities adhering to avionics safety guidelines.

Skills Required


Mandatory Skills:


  • Proven experience (8-12 years) in embedded software development using C language.
  • Strong knowledge of device driver development and hardware interfaces (e.g., ARINC-429, Flash memory, Ethernet, PCI etc.).
  • Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., VxWorks, FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and multitasking concepts.
  • Hands-on experience of DO-178C certification processes, artifacts, and objectives.
  • Understanding of safety-critical software design practices and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an international team.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and software configuration management.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, prepare documentation, and participate in reviews.

Good to have:


  • Experience with avionics platform hardware and embedded CPU architectures (e.g., ARM, PowerPC).
  • Knowledge of software verification & validation tools used in avionics development (e.g., RTRT, Trace32)
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages such as C++ or scripting languages (e.g. Python).
  • Prior experience working in certification projects or aerospace domain.
  • Familiarity with ARINC-653 IMA concepts
  • French language

Educational Qualification


Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field
