The role:


As a Washcoat Engineer, you will help drive our goals by:


  • Manage daily batch production operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, delivery, and production targets.
  • Execute and monitor batch manufacturing activities in accordance with approved SOPs, batch instructions, and process parameters.
  • Monitor and drive key production KPIs including First Time Right (FTR), Tank Turnaround Time (TTT), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), material consumption variance, and production schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Utilities teams to ensure uninterrupted production and timely order execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems and Environmental, Health & Safety standards, including IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Manage PGM solutions from secure vaults and controlled addition into batching tanks, ensuring accurate quantity verification, traceability, process compliance, and safe material handling.
  • Review and maintain batch manufacturing records, SOPs, production reports, logbooks, and process documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and full traceability.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of production deviations, implement CAPA, and ensure timely closure of deviations, waivers, non-conformances, and audit observations.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities for process modifications, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements while ensuring process safety compliance.
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives through effective utilization of SCADA, MES, SAP, and production data analytics to improve operational visibility and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity enhancement, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, waste elimination, energy optimization, and manufacturing cost reduction using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Promote shop floor excellence through implementation of 5S, visual management, standard work, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Support implementation of poka-yoke (error-proofing) solutions to minimize process deviations, manual handling risks, and quality defects.
  • Develop operator capability through structured on-the-job training, SOP awareness, skill matrix development, and process coaching to improve operational competency and safety culture.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:


  • Skilled in using MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Yammer)
  • Knowledge of Basic Quality Tools, Lean Manufacturing, Process safety tools
  • Well-versed with SAP Production Planning, Recipe Management software, MES software
  • Hands-on experience of ISO/IATF
  • Hands-on experience of HAZOP/HIRA

Qualification and Experience for this role:


  • BE/B.Tech in Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 2 to 5 years relevant experience in Automotive/Chemical Industry (specialty chemicals, catalysts, pharmaceuticals, paints, resins, food processing, or fine chemicals).
