Job Description: HVAC Mechanical Lead – Oil & Gas / Power Projects

The HVAC Mechanical Lead is responsible for overseeing all heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems across Majnoon Oil Field Projects. This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of HVAC assets in line with KBR standards, client specifications, and Iraq oil & gas regulatory requirements. The position leads a team of HVAC technicians, coordinates maintenance activities, and supports project execution for upgrades, shutdowns, and new installations.




Accountability / Expectations



  • Lead and supervise HVAC teams, ensuring daily tasks are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Manage preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for all HVAC systems, including chillers, package units, split units, ventilation systems, and industrial cooling equipment.
  • Conduct technical troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and performance diagnostics on mechanical and electrical HVAC components.
  • Ensure compliance with KBR HSSE policies, client standards, and international codes
  • Review and approve HVAC work permits, job hazard analyses, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Projects teams to support field activities and shutdown planning.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: maintenance logs, equipment history, spare‑parts records, and inspection reports.
  • Support project engineering teams with HVAC design reviews, material requisitions, and technical evaluations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability of critical spares and consumables.
  • Train and mentor HVAC technicians, promoting competency development and safe work practices.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently to support critical facilities such as control rooms, substations, accommodation units, and workshops.

Education



Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC Technology.




Experience 



10+ years of HVAC experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.




  • Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems, refrigeration cycles, ducting, ventilation, and industrial cooling.
  • Experience supervising multi‑disciplinary maintenance teams.
  • Proven understanding of HSSE requirements in hazardous environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
