NES Fircroft are currently seeking an Operations Team Leader for a major operational oilfield in Iraq.

The Operations Team Leader reports to the Operations Manager and is accountable to support  the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant operations of the field, including:
 
  • Functional leadership for operations team in operating area
  • Day to day supervision of Operations Team
  • Deliver safe, effective and compliant operations
  • Training and coaching of the local workforce as needed to comply with international standards and improve delivery

Key Accountabilities:
  • Promotes a culture of open safety reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Leads operations to ensure safe and reliable execution of production activities and deliver company’s HSE, production and crude quality targets
  • Support delivery of Annual Operating Plan and Area Development Plan.
  • Provide leadership to the Production team
  • Manages and mentors Operations Advisors and coordinators
  • Responsible for the delivery and development of production operating discipline improvement plan
  • Responsible for the management of production deferrals process
  • Participates in line Self Verification and conducts regular leadership site visits
  • Provide operational input to brownfield and greenfield projects
  • Sets annual team and personal objectives for team members
  • Conduct authorised process isolator assessments
  • Monitors the agreed KPIs and takes appropriate actions to close any deviations from target.
  • Inputs to production choke model to ensure vulnerabilities are understood and assessed to reduce risk and optimise production.
  • Champion Operations Excellence and Continuous improvements (CI) by standardizing best practice activities across site teams
  • Develop competence map for Operations co-ordinator (OC) and drive delivery through operations advisors

  • Participate in risk management process
  • Member of incident command team

Desired experience:
  • Ideally, though not essential, a Degree in Engineering with strong execution delivery, interpersonal skills demonstrated in the leadership of operating teams, influencing on contractors and change management.
  • Clear knowledge and track record of Control of Work, HSE leadership and major incident control.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in a variety of roles that demonstrate skills progression leading to senior management roles leading teams totalling several hundred personnel. 
  • Good presentation and persuasion skills with effective interdisciplinary communication skills.
  • Well-developed staff coaching and development skills with a track record of developing local staff.
  • Experience in overseas posting working with diverse cultures would be beneficial but is not essential.
