Applications are invited from candidates who meet the requirements for the position of Biomedical Technologist in the Biomedical Engineering Department.
Position Summary:
The position holder will under moderate supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain Medical Equipment, instrumentation, and support systems of moderate complexity used within the Aga Khan University Hospital healthcare delivery to support AKUH patient diagnosing and treatment. Inspect, install, and perform inventory management and assessments and preventive maintenance of medical equipment. Manage the paper work for the department upon required.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure maximum percentage uptime on medical equipment is achieved for safe and optimum use within all clinical departments.
Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule
Promptly and properly respond to medical equipment Break-Down Maintenance (BDM) work requests/service calls.
Perform Preventive Maintenance Services (PPM) and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.
Implementation of planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on medical equipment.
Carry out medical equipment breakdown maintenance.
Perform user training on equipment.
Carry out first-line troubleshooting on contracted equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Bachelors in Biomedical engineering and or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering from a reputable Institution.
Registration with The Association of Medical Engineers of Kenya (AMEK)
Minimum of two year of experience performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on electronic, electromechanical medical equipment
Should be detail-oriented and organized.
