Solution Architect – Legal & HSE Portfolio

Role Overview

The Solution Architect for the Legal and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) portfolio is responsible for defining, designing, and governing end-to-end technology solutions that support regulatory compliance, risk management, and enterprise legal operations. The role ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards while enabling scalable, secure, and integrated application ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Solution Design

• Define end-to-end solution architecture across Legal and HSE applications (e.g., compliance, case management, regulatory tracking, EHS systems).
• Develop and maintain:
  • System architecture diagrams
  • Data flow and integration designs
  • Application landscape blueprints
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
• Support security and audit initiatives including:
  • Security reviews (SSR, PIA, PDT-27, etc.)
  • Risk identification and mitigation planning
  • Collaborate with Security and Audit teams to close compliance gaps and strengthen controls.

3. Integration & Data Strategy

• Define integration architecture across platforms such as:
  • SAP / enterprise systems
  • SaaS solutions (e.g., EHS, legal contract systems, regulatory tools)
• Ensure secure and scalable data exchange, including APIs, middleware (e.g., Apigee), and cloud integrations.
• Establish data governance for regulatory and operational data.

4. Portfolio & Application Strategy

• Own architectural oversight of a diverse application portfolio spanning Legal and HSE domains.
• Drive:
  • Application rationalization
  • Technology modernization
  • Cloud adoption strategies
• Identify opportunities for automation, AI enablement, and operational efficiency.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with:
  • Business stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, HSE)
  • IT leadership and Enterprise Architecture
  • External vendors and system integrators
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Present architecture designs for approval to EA and Security boards.

6. Delivery Governance & Assurance

• Provide architectural oversight across project lifecycle:
  • Design → Build → Test → Deploy
• Ensure adherence to standards, best practices, and solution quality.
• Support project teams in resolving complex design or integration challenges.

7. Vendor & Ecosystem Management

• Evaluate and onboard platforms/tools across Legal & HSE ecosystem.
• Work with vendors delivering specialized solutions (e.g., EHS systems, legal AI tools).
• Ensure alignment of vendor solutions with enterprise architecture and security requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical

• Over 10 to 15 years of experience in system development and solution architecture for complex IT systems
• Deep expertise with SaaS platforms and enterprise applications (SAP, Agiloft, Intelex, Docusign, Certa, TeamConnect, other Legal and HSE)
• Plus - Knowledge - Enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or equivalent)
• Integration design (APIs, middleware, cloud integration)
• Experience with SaaS platforms and enterprise applications (SAP, EHS, Legal systems)
• Strong understanding of security, privacy, and compliance architectures

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

• Legal systems (contract lifecycle management, compliance tools, legal AI platforms)
• HSE systems (incident management, regulatory compliance, product safety)
• Regulatory frameworks and audit processes

Soft Skills

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to translate business needs into technical architecture
• Strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving
