Interwood is looking for a result-oriented and hands-on Production Engineer / Section Incharge to manage the end-to-end operations of an assigned production section.
The candidate will be responsible for production planning and execution, manpower management, floor discipline, team training, quality control, compliance, rework reduction, overtime control, cost optimization, process improvement, and system strengthening.
The ideal candidate must have a strong engineering background with practical manufacturing experience and the ability to lead production teams on the floor while ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, productivity improvement, and operational efficiency.
Candidates with FMCG manufacturing background will be preferred, especially those who have managed high-volume production, labour-intensive operations, shift management, quality compliance, and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Execution Take complete ownership of the assigned section’s monthly, weekly, and daily production planning and execution .
Ensure daily production targets are achieved as per approved production plan, quality standards, timelines, and customer delivery requirements.
Monitor plan vs actual production output and take timely corrective actions against delays, gaps, bottlenecks, or deviations.
Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Design, Supply Chain, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth production flow.
Ensure effective utilization of machines, manpower, materials, tools, and section capacity.
Maintain production records, reports, and section-level performance tracking.
Section Management & Floor Operations Supervise day-to-day shopfloor operations of the assigned production section.
Manage labour deployment, shift planning, attendance, productivity, task allocation, and floor discipline.
Ensure strong control over section operations, housekeeping, safety practices, and compliance with company policies.
Identify operational issues on the floor and escalate them timely with practical solutions.
Drive accountability among supervisors, operators, workers, and support teams for daily deliverables.
Quality, Rework & Compliance Ensure production is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, SOPs, and process requirements.
Work closely with the Quality team to reduce rejections, reworks, process deviations, and customer complaints.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with production SOPs, safety standards, quality checkpoints, and process controls.
Build quality ownership within the section team to reduce dependency on inspection-based controls.
Cost Optimization, Process Improvement & System Strengthening Work actively on cost optimization initiatives through better manpower utilization, material control, waste reduction, overtime reduction, and improved productivity.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, system strengthening, workflow standardization, and operational control within the assigned section.
Review current production processes and recommend improvements to reduce delays, rework, idle time, wastage, and productivity losses.
Support the implementation of structured systems, SOPs, reporting mechanisms, dashboards, and production tracking formats.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost reduction, capacity enhancement, quality improvement, production efficiency, and process discipline.
Improve visibility and accountability through proper documentation, reporting, and follow-up mechanisms.
Team Training & Performance Management Train supervisors, operators, and floor teams on production processes, quality standards, safety requirements, productivity expectations, and discipline.
Identify skill gaps within the section and support capability development of the team.
Build a culture of ownership, teamwork, discipline, quality focus, and continuous improvement.
Monitor individual and team performance and take corrective action where required.
Ensure proper onboarding and guidance of new team members within the assigned section.
Overtime, Productivity & Efficiency Control Reduce overtime through effective planning, manpower utilization, productivity monitoring, and shift control.
Improve section output, efficiency, line balancing, and overall process flow.
Monitor wastage, delays, idle time, absenteeism, rework trends, and productivity losses.
Ensure production targets are delivered with optimum cost, controlled overtime, and improved manpower efficiency.

Required Experience 8–10 years of relevant experience in production, manufacturing operations, plant operations, or section management.
Prior experience as Production Engineer, Section Incharge, Assistant Manager Production, Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer, Line Incharge, or Shift Incharge will be preferred.
Candidates with FMCG manufacturing background will be preferred.
Experience in high-volume production, labour-intensive floor management, shift operations, process efficiency, quality compliance, and productivity improvement will be an added advantage.
Experience in furniture, woodworks, appliances, electronics, engineering, automotive, metal, or similar manufacturing industries will also be considered.
