Role Overview We are looking for experienced open-source software contributors to support a technically demanding AI engineering project.
You will create realistic reinforcement learning environments that evaluate an AI model’s ability to solve complex software engineering tasks, including debugging, feature development, code refactoring, and performance optimization.
The work involves designing reproducible coding challenges, preparing reliable test environments, and developing high-quality reference solutions.
Candidates must have a public record of meaningful open-source contributions through platforms such as GitHub or GitLab .
CONTRACT: Freelance contractor, project-based COMMITMENT: Flexible workload with minimum weekly task submission requirements LOCATIONS: Fully remote PROCESS: Application and screening questions, approximately 30-minute AI interview, potential technical assessment, and hiring manager review NOTES: Compensation is paid per successfully completed task.
Selected contributors should be available to begin within 24–48 hours after onboarding.
HOURLY RATE: $50 - $100/h Responsibilities Create reproducible software engineering environments for AI model evaluation.
Design coding tasks involving bug fixes, new features, refactoring, and performance improvements.
Develop accurate and maintainable reference solutions for each assigned task.
Contribute production-quality code to relevant open-source repositories.
Implement and optimize algorithms, libraries, and system components.
Investigate and resolve bugs, technical limitations, and performance bottlenecks.
Build reliable automated tests to validate expected task outcomes.
Review code and provide clear, constructive technical feedback.
Maintain technical documentation for environments, solutions, and implementation decisions.
Collaborate with contributors and project stakeholders on technical requirements.
Demonstrable open-source contributions available through a public GitHub, GitLab, or equivalent profile.
Strong software engineering experience in at least one of: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust .
Experience debugging, extending, or refactoring existing production-level codebases.
Ability to create reproducible development and testing environments.
