Key Responsibilities: 


  • a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb;}tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;}tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5;}The Principal Safety Engineer provides leadership and assurance across all phases of engineering projects (concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution).


  • The role is responsible for driving the implementation of Company's and International HSE standards and best practices, ensuring that safety is fully integrated into engineering design and operational philosophy.


  • The position leads hazard identification and risk assessment studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL), develops safety philosophies and engineering solutions, and supports quantitative risk assessments, fire and explosion analysis, and functional safety lifecycle activities.


  • The Principal Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure regulatory compliance, risk reduction (ALARP), and required safety performance.


  • Additionally, the role acts as a technical authority, guiding junior engineers, reviewing deliverables, supporting audits and safety cases, and contributing to continuous improvement of HSE practices within the organization.


Quality Assurance


Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.


Safety:


Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures


Promoting health, safety and environmental awareness.



Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Safety Engineering from an accredited University
  • Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Process Safety, Risk Engineering, or equivalent (highly desirable)
  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, PE) or equivalent professional registration (highly desirable)
  • Recognized certifications (preferred):
    • NEBOSH Diploma (International)
    • TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (IEC 61508 / 61511)
    • IChemE / IMechE / IOSH Membership (MIOSH/CMIOSH)
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
Industry Specific Experience:
  • Vast experience in HSE / Process Safety within the Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), petrochemicals, LNG
  • Proven experience in engineering design or EPC environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in major capital projects (FEED, EPC, brownfield modifications)
  • Experience working with international clients, regulators, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Prior role as 


    Lead / Principal HSE Engineer on Projects

Industry Technical Competencies required:
  • Extensive expertise in:
    • Process Safety Management (PSM) frameworks (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, CCPS RBPS)
    • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment methodologies:
      • HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, Bowtie, QRA
    • Consequence analysis and risk modeling:
      • Vapor cloud explosion, dispersion, fire radiation (e.g., PHAST/Safeti knowledge)
    • Functional Safety & Instrumented Protection Systems:
      • IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 lifecycle
    • Fire & Explosion Engineering:
      • Passive/Active Fire Protection (PFP/AFP), FERA, EERA
    • Loss Prevention philosophy and design safety principles
