Job Purpose / Objective 


Assist the anesthesia provider (anesthesiologist or CRNA) with equipment, medications, and supplies utilized in the course of the anesthesia provider’s practice. Provide assistance with patient care and department support activities in accordance with department standards.


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities  


  • Assist the attending anesthesiologist in conducting patient consultations; help to record any information concerning the patient's medical history that might be vital during the actual operation.
  • Work as an aide to the anesthesia care team, especially to the anesthesiologist.
  • Provide assistance to anesthesia team in assembling equipment and supplies for the administration of anesthesia.
  • Clean, maintain and troubleshoot the anesthesia related equipment and workroom.
  • Operate the electronic, mechanical and other technical equipment during the operation.
  • Keep all anesthesia supplies stocked and maintain the record of the anesthesia supplies used during the operation.
  • Change soda lime and compressed gas cylinders as required and replace EKG electrodes, breathing circuits and suction apparatus after each case.
  • Monitor and record of patient's vital signs including breathing, heart rhythm, temperature and blood pressure.
  • Conduct periodical inspection to check all devices are working fine and report any inconsistencies found to attending anesthesiologist immediately.
  • Adjust the electronic equipment, as well as sterilize anesthesia machinery prior the surgery.
  • Note and follow any specific instructions from the physician that is also part of the pre op procedure.
  • Receive delivery of supplies and pharmaceuticals and stores them in proper locations.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and follow all hospital related policies and procedures.
  • Provide patient and family education as per the needs.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Perform other related duties that are applicable to the department and as requested by the head of department.

Education/ Professional Qualification


  • Bachelor Degree in Anaesthesia

Experience


  • At least Two (2) years of experience as an Anaesthesia Technician.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training  


  • Relevant certificates (BLS & ACLS certified).
  • Valid Saudi Council license.
