Job Description

FAENA The Red Sea is seeking a skilled and proactive Kitchen Technician to join our Engineering team. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing all commercial kitchen equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of the resort's culinary facilities. Working closely with the Engineering, Culinary, and Food & Beverage teams, the Kitchen Technician will play a key role in supporting operational excellence while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment to minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing, and food preparation equipment.
  • Maintain ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, combi ovens, refrigeration units, ice machines, and warewashing equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain kitchen exhaust systems, fans, and grease filtration equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, gas, and refrigeration-related issues.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new kitchen equipment.
  • Respond promptly to kitchen equipment breakdowns to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and equipment manufacturers for specialised repairs when required.
  • Monitor gas systems, safety devices, and kitchen equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, health and safety, fire safety, and company engineering standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history using the CMMS system.
  • Assist in managing spare parts inventory and maintenance supplies.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage teams.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
  • Support banquet operations, special events, and other operational requirements as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Technician or similar Engineering role within a hotel, resort, or commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, gas systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
  • Good understanding of HACCP, food safety, and health & safety regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Relevant trade certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional service in a luxury hospitality environment.
