As part of our Medical Affairs team, you will play a critical role in advancing scientific knowledge, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and building trusted relationships with healthcare stakeholders across Saudi Arabia and the broader GCC region.


Role Summary


As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you serve as the field-based scientific expert within assigned therapeutic areas, building trusted peer-to-peer relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), healthcare organizations, and other healthcare stakeholders.


In this role, you will independently engage in scientific exchange, communicate complex clinical and scientific information, generate actionable medical insights, support evidence-generation initiatives, and contribute to the implementation of local medical strategies. You will play a key role in identifying unmet medical needs, advancing therapeutic understanding, and supporting evidence-based healthcare decision-making.


The MSL collaborates closely with internal cross-functional partners while ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, industry codes, ethical guidelines, and company policies.


This position requires significant travel, extensive external stakeholder engagement, and participation in scientific meetings, advisory boards, congresses, and educational activities across Saudi Arabia and the GCC region.


Key Responsibilities


Scientific Expertise and Medical Leadership


  • Serve as the scientific expert for assigned therapeutic areas and products.


  • Maintain a deep understanding of relevant disease areas, treatment landscapes, clinical evidence, and emerging scientific developments.


  • Translate scientific and clinical insights into meaningful recommendations that support local medical strategies and objectives.


  • Monitor scientific literature, treatment guidelines, competitor activities, and healthcare trends to maintain scientific leadership.


  • Provide expert interpretation of clinical data and communicate complex scientific information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.


External Scientific Engagement and Stakeholder Partnerships


  • Develop and maintain high-value scientific relationships with KEEs, HCPs, healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and other healthcare stakeholders through compliant scientific engagement.


  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions that advance understanding of disease management and treatment approaches.


  • Facilitate meaningful scientific exchange and gather actionable medical insights to support Medical Affairs planning and evidence generation priorities.


  • Represent Mundipharma as a trusted and credible scientific partner within the healthcare community.


  • Support advisory boards, scientific meetings, investigator discussions, and other stakeholder engagement activities.


Medical Education, Evidence Generation and Scientific Advancement


  • Support the planning and delivery of scientific and medical education initiatives for external and internal stakeholders.


  • Identify evidence gaps and contribute to evidence-generation strategies, including real-world evidence projects, investigator-initiated studies, and research collaborations.


  • Critically evaluate scientific literature and emerging clinical evidence to support medical objectives.


  • Support scientific publications, congress activities, data dissemination, and educational programmes.


  • Communicate relevant medical and scientific developments to internal teams to support informed decision-making.


Medical Insights and Strategy Implementation


  • Gather, analyse, and communicate field medical insights to support the development and execution of local medical plans.


  • Identify unmet patient needs, treatment challenges, and opportunities to improve patient outcomes.


  • Contribute scientific perspectives to lifecycle management discussions, launch preparedness activities, and future medical opportunities.


  • Support Medical Affairs initiatives through evidence-based recommendations and stakeholder feedback.


Cross-Functional Partnership and Business Support


  • Collaborate effectively with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, Quality, and other functional teams.


  • Provide scientific input to healthcare initiatives, customer engagement activities, and product lifecycle projects.


  • Support cross-functional projects requiring therapeutic-area expertise and advanced scientific knowledge.


  • Act as a trusted scientific resource for colleagues and contribute to the development of medical knowledge across the organization.


Medical Governance, Compliance and Operational Excellence


  • Ensure all activities comply with local regulations, company policies, industry codes, and ethical standards.


  • Maintain accurate documentation of medical activities, stakeholder engagements, and medical insights.


  • Ensure timely reporting and escalation of adverse events, product complaints, and medical information requests.


  • Support the scientific review of medical and promotional materials, where appropriate and in accordance with company procedures.


  • Identify opportunities to improve Medical Affairs processes, stakeholder engagement models, and operational effectiveness through continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications


Education


  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or another relevant healthcare discipline is required.


  • A postgraduate scientific qualification, Master's degree, PharmD, PhD, or Medical Degree is considered advantageous.


  • Additional certifications in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Evidence Generation, Pharmaceutical Medicine, or related fields are desirable.


Experience


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences industry.


  • Minimum of 2 years' Medical Affairs experience within Saudi Arabia or a comparable healthcare environment is required.


  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison, Medical Advisor, Clinical Research professional, or a comparable scientific role is preferred.


  • Experience supporting product launches, scientific engagement programmes, evidence-generation initiatives, investigator-sponsored research, or strategic Medical Affairs projects is advantageous.


  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and influence stakeholders through scientific credibility.


  • Proven success in leading projects, resolving complex medical challenges, and collaborating across multiple functions.


Knowledge & Skills


  • Strong knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas and relevant clinical practice.


  • Sound understanding of clinical research, evidence generation, and healthcare systems.


  • Ability to critically evaluate, interpret, and communicate complex scientific and clinical information.


  • Excellent presentation, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.


  • Strong relationship-building capability with KEEs, HCPs, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations.


  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in scientific literature evaluation, digital engagement platforms, and business applications.


  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and collaboration.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is considered an advantage.
