Job Purpose:
To ensure Technically, Commercially, timely and cost-effective procurement of electrical, mechanical, and fabrication materials required for switchgear manufacturing. The Procurement Engineer will evaluate suppliers, negotiate prices, manage purchase orders, and coordinate with engineering and production teams to maintain smooth material flow and meet project deadlines.
Main Responsibilities

 Procurement & Sourcing:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select OEM and qualified suppliers for switchgear components, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, busbars, sheet metal, gaskets, copper bars, etc.
  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in line with project requirements
  • Source new vendors and materials to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to achieve cost savings
  • Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure supplier qualification compliance
Coordination with Internal Departments:
  • Work closely with the Estimation, design, production, Warehouse and quality teams to understand technical requirements
  • Coordinate with stores and plan to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Support the engineering department in material substitution or alternate sourcing
Material Planning & Control:
  • Monitor material delivery schedules and ensure timely availability for production
  • Track and resolve discrepancies related to materials, quality, or delivery delays
  • Follow up on pending orders and expedite deliveries when required
Documentation & Compliance:
  • Prepare RFQs, purchase orders, comparison sheets, and supplier performance reports
  • Ensure all materials comply with company quality standards and project specifications
  • Maintain procurement documentation as per ISO / QA-QC procedures
Cost Optimization & Supplier Development:
  • Analyse cost trends and develop strategies for cost reduction
  • Evaluate supplier performance on quality, cost, and delivery metrics
  • Participate in supplier audits and development programs
HSE Responsibilities
  • Adhere to follow all company Quality, Health, Safety, And Environmental (QHSE) policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Promptly identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses to the appropriate supervisor or QHSE team.
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory Safety inductions, HSE trainings, safety meetings, emergency drills and root cause investigations.
  • Follow established emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans, fire response, and first aid if trained.
  • Follow protocols to minimize environmental impact, including proper waste disposal and reporting spills or leaks.
  • Provide suggestions to enhance Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and take responsibility and initiatives for continual improvement.
Qualifications & Relevant Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Knowledge Skills & Experience
  • 3–6 years of experience in procurement within switchgear or electrical manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of LV/MV switchgear products such as ABB, Hyundai, Schneider, Siemens.
