At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer – MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) to support and oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for large-scale Data Centre construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and associated mission-critical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in compliance with project specifications, client standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Working closely with construction teams, subcontractors, consultants, commissioning specialists, and client representatives, the Quality Engineer – MEP will play a critical role in delivering high-performance Data Centre facilities that meet the stringent reliability, resilience, and operational requirements of mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance Management
Responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining project quality management systems across all MEP disciplines. The role will ensure compliance with approved quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, project specifications, and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will participate in quality audits, monitor adherence to quality procedures, support continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a quality-focused culture throughout all stages of project execution.
Mechanical Systems Quality Control
Oversee quality inspections and verification activities for mechanical systems including chilled water networks, HVAC systems, cooling plants, chillers, CRAH units, CRAC units, pumps, fuel systems, plumbing systems, drainage systems, ventilation systems, and fire protection systems. The role will ensure all installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable industry standards. The successful candidate will review testing records, monitor workmanship quality, and verify system readiness for commissioning and operational handover.
Electrical Systems Quality Control
Responsible for ensuring the quality of electrical installations including medium-voltage and low-voltage systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, bus duct systems, power distribution equipment, grounding systems, lighting systems, and battery systems. The role will conduct inspections, witness testing activities, verify installation compliance, and ensure all electrical infrastructure meets project performance, safety, and reliability requirements. Particular attention will be given to mission-critical power systems that support Data Centre redundancy and resilience objectives.
Data Centre MEP Quality Oversight
Play a key role in ensuring all MEP systems supporting Data Centre operations are installed and tested to the highest standards of quality and reliability. The role will verify compliance with mission-critical facility requirements, ensuring systems are constructed in accordance with approved designs and operational performance criteria. The successful candidate will work closely with CSA, ELV, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure seamless coordination and integration of all systems in preparation for energization, integrated systems testing (IST), and client acceptance.
Inspection and Testing Management
Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, and verification activities throughout construction and commissioning phases. The role will review pressure testing records, flushing reports, balancing reports, electrical test results, insulation resistance tests, grounding tests, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning documentation. The successful candidate will ensure all required inspections and tests are completed, documented, and approved before systems are released for subsequent phases of work.
Commissioning and Handover Support
Support commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), operational readiness reviews, and project handover activities. The role will ensure all MEP systems are fully inspected, tested, documented, and demonstrated in accordance with project requirements and client expectations. The successful candidate will oversee punch list management, quality verification activities, turnover documentation reviews, and final acceptance inspections to facilitate a successful project closeout and operational handover.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline, together with a minimum of 8–10 years of quality assurance and quality control experience, including at least 3–5 years on large-scale Data Centre, mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or complex infrastructure projects.
Experience supporting MEP installation, testing, commissioning, and quality management activities within fast-track construction environments is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of MEP construction methodologies, HVAC systems, chilled water systems, critical power infrastructure, fire protection systems, testing and commissioning processes, quality management systems, inspection and test plans (ITPs), NCR management, and root-cause analysis is essential. Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, commissioning procedures, mission-critical facility requirements, and project quality documentation systems is highly desirable.
