At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Jacobs is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and oversee all electrical engineering and construction activities for large-scale Data Centre projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the installation, coordination, testing, commissioning, and delivery of mission-critical electrical infrastructure that supports the reliable and continuous operation of Data Centre facilities. Working closely with project managers, construction teams, consultants, subcontractors, commissioning specialists, equipment vendors, and client stakeholders, the Senior Electrical Engineer will ensure that all electrical systems are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Systems Management
Responsible for managing the installation and execution of all electrical systems within the Data Centre environment, including medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busway systems, power distribution units (PDUs), grounding and bonding systems, lighting systems, cable containment infrastructure, and associated electrical networks. The role will ensure that all electrical installations comply with approved designs, technical specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and standards while supporting the high-availability and redundancy requirements of mission-critical facilities.
Data Centre Construction Oversight
Oversee day-to-day electrical construction activities, ensuring that subcontractors and vendors perform their work in accordance with approved schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role will monitor installation progress, resource allocation, construction sequencing, and productivity while coordinating closely with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure effective integration of all project systems. The successful candidate will proactively identify and resolve construction challenges to support uninterrupted project execution and milestone achievement.
Design Review and Technical Coordination
Review electrical designs, technical specifications, single-line diagrams, load studies, protection schemes, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry best practices. The role will provide technical guidance during design development, identify constructability concerns, coordinate engineering clarifications, and support value engineering initiatives aimed at improving reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The position will work closely with consultants, design teams, and equipment manufacturers to ensure technical issues are resolved efficiently and project objectives are maintained.
Critical Electrical Infrastructure Management
Manage the delivery and installation of mission-critical electrical infrastructure, including utility interfaces, substations, backup generation systems, UPS systems, battery systems, transformers, switchgear lineups, bus ducts, electrical panels, and power distribution systems. The role will closely monitor procurement activities, manufacturing schedules, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site delivery, installation, and energization readiness to ensure alignment with project programme requirements and client operational objectives.
Testing, Commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing
Lead and support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), energization, and operational readiness activities for all electrical systems. The role will coordinate pre-functional and functional testing, equipment start-up, relay protection testing, UPS testing, generator load testing, synchronization testing, and system performance verification. The successful candidate will work closely with commissioning teams and client representatives to ensure that all electrical infrastructure operates reliably and achieves the required levels of redundancy, resilience, and performance prior to facility handover.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and possess a minimum of 12-15 years of experience in electrical engineering and construction, including at least 5 years working on large-scale Data Centre, mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or complex infrastructure projects.
Proven experience managing critical power infrastructure, electrical distribution systems, and commissioning activities within mission-critical environments is essential.
Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, Aconex, Navisworks, BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office applications will be considered an advantage.
